McMenamins Gearhart Hotel - Featured Reviews (2058)
My wife and I stayed in one of the king rooms in the annex. The room was clean and comfortable but with two exceptions, no refrigerator and tiny pillows for the king sized bed (think 4 throw pillow sized pillows for the bed). The lack of adequate refrigeration and pillows was barely a thought though when the grandeur of the golf course, buildings and nearby beach were taken into consideration. All in all, we will return (this time with our own pillows and non-refrigerated snacks). Great hotel, great restaurants on site, one of the best links courses I’ve ever seen. Love it here.
A nice place to stay if you want to be near Seaside (and Astoria and Cannon Beach) but not actually there. Food is good, service is good, and there's of course everything golf for those interested. Unfortunately rooms are very overpriced (as is much of the area in summer) and not particularly comfortable, and it's pretty small for a McMenamins so not much to explore. The room was a good size, though ours was under stairs that were somewhat noisy, and the plumbing wasn't great (our sink was plugged--fixed the next morning--and the shower very meh). Normally I'd say that all comes with a historic building, but this McMenamins is a more recent rebuild, 2001 I think. Still, overall a much better option to stay at than a lot of the chains and such in Seaside, and a nice place to stop for a meal.
Our family of 5 went for dinner on a Saturday evening and I have never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant. Zero personality from the waiter and felt like he really had no desire to help us. Didn’t take a drink order was rude when we asked for drinks. And barely check back on us. Usually have great experiences at mcmennimams. Maybe he was having a bad day. Left him a large tip anyway. Hope he has a better day tomorrow
What a fabulous experience we had overall! Several bars on property, all with caring and overachieving staff who made us feel valued. We took the free bike rental to the bar on the links for some delicious breakfast burritos! (Get there early) Bike rental is also an experience on the passport insert, wink. Debbie at the check in desk is an absolute angel, and made us feel like family. The drive on beach is a stones throw away from the hotel, which is where we spent soaking up the afternoon sun. Very short drive to the Promenade for shopping and delicious seafood. (The Prom also has a family fun arcade for the tots). If you like gold, or even a relaxing putting green, this is the place to stay. Shuffleboard (Also a passport experience) downstairs is affordable, and the fireplace inside the bar and outside by the links are wonderful places to have a beer or enjoy your morning coffee. No hot tub, but the beach nearby makes up for it in spades. No mini fridges in the room, but we are always prepared with a mini cooler. Ultimately, this was an unforgettable experience in a beautiful establishment with excellent staff. Very accommodating. Thanks again Mcmenamins!
We attended a wedding at this venue and really enjoyed it. We didn’t stay here so can’t comment about the room. The buffet following the ceremony was delicious. The setting is amazing and the building itself has just the right Mcminamins touches.
We recently stayed at McMenamin’s in Gearhart for two nights, and we enjoyed many aspects of our visit. Pros: Our room was quiet and peaceful, providing a welcome escape from a recent heatwave at home. Great coffee The check-in staff was awesome. We loved the a/c! Easy access to the beach, just a few blocks away Bikes available Blackout curtains worked great for keeping the light out Clean room! Cons: Poor lighting in the room is difficult for reading.
My husband and I just spent our ten year anniversary at the Mcmenamins Gearhart Hotel and it did not disappoint. Golfing was great, the atmosphere wonderful, and just the history and culture of the hotel is so fun. You already can't go wrong with the food and drinks at McMenamins, but the staff at both the restaurant and hotel really made this trip extra special. They even paid to ship me my clothes I left in the wardrobe! That's above and beyond and we will absolutely be coming back.
Really loved Gearhart. My wife and I stopped by on our way home to get passport stamps, we both want to go back to experience it more. The staff...as is the norm at McMenamins...are super busy but amazingly happy and friendly. Rolling through those passports, you get super familiar to the menu...but at Gearhart I had steak frite that I've never seen on the menu before. I was awesome!
Iâm from the south and I can say the gravy tastes just like it does back home. My table Ordered the biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit and sausage & egg breakfast. Everything was delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and our cups were never empty.
I always get takeout pizza from here when I'm camping. It's always great pizza! Love the crunchy crust and it's fast too, never have to wait long. Great location so I can pickup my pizza on my way to or from the beach, seaside or my campsite.
I got the secret garden pizza 10 inch, and I must say it was absolutely marvelous! It was literally the best pizza Iâve ever had! I thought I didnât like mushrooms but these tasted great! The clam chowder was delicious, a lot of clams in it! Fren
