McMenamins Blue Moon Tavern & Grill - Brewpub in Portland - 432 NW 21st Ave, USA

Our favorite place to eat in Portland! My husband and I were recently in Portland for 10 days and came to this restaurant at least 7 times. I wish I could recall the name of our server--I think it might have been Josh?--anyhow, he waited on us a bunch of times and was excellent. We really love the physical space and the giant old pot bellied stove throwing off heat. We especially love the vegan options on the menu, which are amazing!! I think during our trip we ate at 10 different McMenamins around Oregon. They were all fantastic--we especially loved the vegan options in St. John's, which were out of this world. Thanks so much for providing great vegan food, cool environments to eat it, and wonderful beer.

It’s great spot to hang out. Loved all the old pinball machines and shuffleboard. Unfortunately during my visit I was not able to experience a lot of things from their menu as due to the heatwave it was limited menu, however everything I tried was very good. Very attentive and friendly staff. Parking can be a bit tricky.

We enjoyed some lovely cider and beer next to a nice, cozy fire while the rain and cold stayed exactly where they should; outside.

The Halloween costume party bar crawl was amazing. We had a fantastic time with Brian and Devon our pantomime bartenders. They have worked together for years and it shows. Cared for every customer and made sure they backed each other up all night. We were lucky enough to sit at the bar with them and watched them work hard to make all the yummy drinks. I highly recommend the pop rock Jell-O shots. They are fantastic. blue was our favorites. The spiced rum and cokes were great too. Included are some phots and video from our visit. And although this was our first visit, I can tell will be back for many more. McMenamins is always a good choice.

First time tonight. Came with family members and elderly parents. Was thinking this place was a fun. We got our food in a reasonable time. Granted waitress forgot two drinks until we reminded her. Things were going good until one of the servers propped the front door open. It is a cold night in Dec. Apparently, some time before we arrived, the staff had turned on the fireplace and made the place smokey. They placed our party right next to the smokey fire pit. Plus one of the servers was super rude when we closed the door since we got cold. So yeah - turned a nice experience into a lame one. If they wanted to get rid of tue smokey smell, they needed to remove the remnants of the fire in the pit. I also saw someone fiddle with the fire pits hood - looks like they forgot to open the vent fully.

Same quirky decor and feel you've come to expect from McMenamins. Your meals come with kettle chips rather fries so be prepared for that. Otherwise same great flavors. I had the tuna sandwich which was big enough to feed me twice.

A few years back I came here to write and drink and I didn’t realize I was talking to my ex because somehow he was way better looking in the dim lights, and it wasn’t until I was leaving that I was rudely awakened to the fact that I’d invited him to my improv show. Everything about this sentence is tragic and so Portland. But if you’re not here trying to ruin your life with mistakes you’ve already made, you’ll love the array of bar games like shuffleboard and all the pool tables. There’s a blazing fire to warm yourself when it’s cold, and the general people watching while the youths toss back Jell-O shots is equal to a real life re-watch of New Girl. So come in for some tots, and leave your ex exactly where you left them - alone at the bar.

Loved it. We had not been there in awhile. Friendly server and good food. What else do you want?
