Absolutely one of my favorite theaters in Portland. It's just beautiful inside. I typically only grab a slice and a pint for the movie. Do t really eat at the restaurant. Backstage is a great spot as well, just around the backside of the theater. Pool, arcades, great atmosphere. And if you're into cigars then Greater Trump's is a great smoking bar.
Aside from the prices being through the roof, the server or kitchen lost our order, but checked in so little that they didn't even realize it. We waited well over an hour for our food in the pub area and while we were okay with it taking some time, they doubled down and tried to say it was getting plated when it wasn't even entered, so it was another 30 minutes. The location is excellent and the food tastes amazing, but expect to spend $20+ for a sandwich. The theater is fun to explore, as well as the fun movies and the great seating inside the theater.
Very cute spot for a beer. Staff was really sweet. individual washrooms 👍
The food is average but priced as good quality; so not a good value. The cocktails and shots are weak. The table service rules are strange in that they only bring food to the mezzanine, but you can eat in the back half of the main floor. And you have to get your own cocktails and shots from a separate bar after ordering at the main bar. I don't recommend tipping much here since the service is so underwhelming by design. What saves this place is the beautiful theater and good value ticket price. They're definitely trying to make profit by cost cutting on food and service.
My wife and I came around 1:00 p.m. for lunch, then to catch a movie after. The pizza was excellent and my wife had the Portland Dip. Unfortunately her fries were overcooked and cold. It took us about 5 minutes to get seated when there was not much business to speak of. I know that staffing is short for many places still, so I'm not begrudging that. Great place to get some food and visit some local shops as well as people watch. Their beers and ciders are always top notch.
I have a soft spot for McMenamins. The fact that they rehab and utilize old spaces, giving them new life in the community is a wonderful thing. Partner and I stopped into the bar at Baghdad (backstage bar) the first night they were open after being closed for over a year. Warm, welcoming and reuniting like seeing an old friend after a long time is the vibe I always get at McMenamins. It was so nice to be able to go in and although quiet, enjoy a stable part of our city again. The bartender was wonderful and the space echoes with a familiar feeling. This bar in particular is a whimsical space built in the backstage portion of the old theatre which just adds to the mystery and whimsy of the whole building. It’s the kind of little tucked away bar that you make a regular haunt. Unassuming from the outside (down the street past the cigar bar and a normal door) and once inside, just blooms with sensory delight.
I enjoy happy hour at the Bagdad theater in the sunshine. It's totally relaxing. The cider flight was delicious and fun to try. French fries and a vegan burger was a nice thing to eat. Staff is stellar
The food was not very good, the fries weren't cooked thoroughly and the portion was skimpy. It was very expensive too. The service was great, but it doesn't make up for overpriced and undercooked food. I do not recommend this place as an eatery. The drinks were good though. There are many other better places to eat on Hawthorne that are more deserving of your money and patronage.

This style of pizza is not something Iâm always in the mood for, but when I am, I will only settle for Assembly. By far itâs the best Detroit style pizza Iâve had out here. I havenât had a bad experience yet. The crust is delicious, yeahâ¦I
Really pretty cocktails (the butterfly pea drink was AMAZING!), nice place to sit outside. Good place to be on a summer afternoon to just hang out for a while! Powellâs and Sizzle Pie are nearby if youâre trying to have an old portland style day.
Amazing spot for cider and gluten-free food. Huge list of ciders from all over. The Schilling Anniversary Pommeau is excellent. Kitchen is all GF so it is safe to eat and drink anything on the menu if you have gluten issues. I haven't had a corn do
