McLean House Bed & Breakfast - Featured Reviews (14)
Had a great two night stay at the McLean House. It was wonderful. Janet was warm and inviting and as accommodating and hospitable as you’d hope. The breakfasts were cooked warm and fresh, with fresh fruit and personal touches. If we are in Shippensburg again anytime in the future, we will definitely look at staying here again.
We stayed in room 1. We were hoping for a good night's sleep given that we had none of our kids. Unfortunately, the bed was lumpy and felt at an angle, the shades did nothing to block the morning sun, the radiator next to the bed was too hot, and the floor was very creaky. The decor was very old, which is probably some preference, but it felt a little cluttered and even rundown. The owner was very nice, though not very talkative, which is also some preference, of course. The breakfast was nice, though the fruit was not fresh and probably should've just been thrown out. The landscaping was very peaceful, with a brook and lots of flowers and places to sit. The breakfast nook also had a great view onto the grounds with birds at a feeder. It felt like my grandmother's house, overall. If you like that sort of thing, great! I'm not as keen on that, so it was not my favorite of places to stay.
We only spent one night at McLean house - wish we'd had more time to stay here! The room was large and lovely with a very comfortable bed. The house is most impressive and the knick-knacks everywhere made it like home. The breakfast was substantial and the hostess extremely welcoming and helpful. Overall, an excellent experience!
My wife and i were exploring the Shippensburg area as a possible retirement location. We could not have chosen a better place. The host, Jan Rose, knew most of the town and was most accommodating. If you go to Ship you must stop in at the Historical Center which is a short walk away from the McLean House. We had a delightful conversation with Jan in the evening and an awesome breakfast in the morning.
My wife, son and I stayed at the McLean house while visiting Shippensburg College. Jan Rose (the bed and breakfast owner) was warm, friendly and accommodating. The house was beautifully decorated and immaculate. The breakfast was delicious. All this for the same cost of a cheap hotel. This is an unbelievably good deal!
This was like stepping back in time! Every part of the house was impeccably furnished with true antiques and traditional pieces! The rooms were so lovely and comfortable! The host, Jan was so sweet and hospitable! The price of the rooms was so unbelievably priced, I felt truly lucky that I found it! Please upon reading this review, do yourself a favor, and stay here!!||The only thing that is missing in the room is a TV, but there is one in the Living Room that will satisfy your needs! The Breakfast was delicious, and the Dining Room gorgeous! Thank you Jan and Bob for allowing me to come into your beautiful Home!
About four years ago I was here at this B&B for my friend's 30th birthday party. It was so lovely in the gardens and they had everything set up so nicely. There was plenty of room for all of us to mingle and enjoy visiting as well sitting around in a circle to watch the guest of honor open her presents.|| Sorry so late of a review, but I was not aware of Tripadvisor until later on. Keep up the good work of making people feel special with your nice place. We were amazed that you couldn't hear any of the town noise. We felt like we were off by ourselves.
A beautiful house immaculately kept. The host, Jan, is a charming lady & very helpful. The room was large and the breakfast was great. A short scenic drive to Gettysburg. A great value & a great alternative to the staid hotels. I would highly recommend it to everyone. Certainly if I go back I will stay there again.
What a delicious place to go eat. The cheesesteak sandwich was delicious and the pizza was so good. We had the meat lovers and it had tons of meat and cheese on it. Owner was extremely nice and knows how to cook. Best wishes in all your adventures. T
I got sat by a very nice host who sat me to my needs, when I arrived at the table a super nice young gentleman named James greeted me and took my order while making sure I didnât have any allergies or anything. James accommodated everything for me
Stopped here with my wife and granddaughters after a day at Hersheypark. I grew up in Ship but moved a way many years ago. We were getting hungry as we were driving and were in the area to thought about Diffy's as it was a great place to eat. We
