Reposting my review since it was hidden. As of 11:30 AM 10/20/2023, I have yet to be contacted by the property manager at McKenzie Park Apartments. I had to reach out to the assistant manager for an update. The assistant property manager (Terrian) was very respectful and professional in their response. As of 6:40 PM 10/19/2020, another dog attacked me. This used to be a really good apartment until the new management ruined it. I tried to give the new management a chance, but however, that's the worst decision I ever made in my life. 1. Parking Issues: I’ve paid for a reserved spot, yet it’s often taken by other vehicles. Additionally, I was misinformed about potential reimbursements for this ongoing issue. 2. Safety Concerns: • I’ve faced direct threats to personal safety, such as an unleashed dog attacking both myself and my pet. • Recently, a drug-related incident within the complex further heightened my worries about the safety and security of our living environment. 3. Apartment Manager’s Behavior: • There was a distressing incident where the apartment manager nearly hit my car in the parking area. • The manager’s overall conduct during this, and at other times, has made me question her professional judgment and wellbeing. 4. Inconsistent Management: My attempts to address concerns with the apartment manager have often been in vain. It’s reached a point where I’ve had to rely on the assistant property manager just to ensure concerns are even heard, let alone addressed. I suspect that the property manager has a problem with African Americans as well do the fact my friend of opposite race did not face the same issues when attempting to move out. 5. Pressured Lease Renewal: We weren’t informed in time about our lease nearing its end. With only a week’s notice, we felt pushed into renewing. We were assured that fees and terms remained unchanged, which turned out to be untrue. If we had known our lease was about to expire along with the actual fees, we might’ve opted for properties like Arlo or the Villas. Now, we’re being threatened with a reletting charge and buy-out fee (which were told one month's rent and actually it's two). FYA Ram Managment, the apartment manager doesn't care so much she encouraged me to leave a review.

They unnecessarily charge you when you renew a lease and/or move out. You pay your rent for the entire month, but if you renew your lease, that lease starts on the second day (because the lease ends on the first, but when you pay that month's rent, it's from the first to the last of the month), so they charge you extra for the first day of that new month as pro-rated. When you move out and pay that last remaining month, your lease ends on the 1st of the following month, so they charge you again for that pro-rated day of that new month, regardless if you move out days before, which I did. It's ridiculous to pay an extra day when you've already paid your entire rent. That single day is a loophole they add to get more money out of you. Both of these situations have occurred to me. I have lived here for 2.5 years and it's something you can't get out of, and this coming from a resident that has never missed a payment. These new owners/managers that have taken over the last year or year and a half are corrupt.

I sat in my apartment waiting for someone in management to contact me about my second “emergency maintenance” request for my air conditioner. I’ve called the office multiple times with no answer and left a message. The new management is the biggest drawback! She is not friendly and she NEVER answers the phone! I drove around to the clubhouse at 4 pm (they close at 6pm) to find that the clubhouse was locked with the lights off and she was sitting in her office watching the phone ring. She tried communicating with me through the window. Eventually, she came to the door and questioned me about what number I was dialing only to slip up and admit that she saw that I was calling multiple times.

If at all possible do not rent from them. I moved out cleaned my apartment professionally and have been fighting with them since last March to get the return of my deposit back. They mailed me a check that they have stopped payment on which caused my bank to charge me fees for the returned check. Also they never answer the phone when calling. Very rude and unprofessional management company. I’ve called several times and left voicemails for the manager and never return my calls. Renters beware Do Not rent from them never.

Love my apartment at McKenzie Park. Moved in May of 2016 and so happy I did. Apartment had granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, crown molding, and they include everything in the price, but electric.

UPDATE— I’m just updating this so it stays at the top and doesn’t get lost in the “good tour reviews.” ***also to update, MANAGEMENT IS STILL NOT FINDING SOLUTIONS TO ANYTHING. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! When I first did my tour and moved in, management was incredible! Everyone was so friendly and made me feel very welcomed. Recently, new management has taken over and it has been a disaster. Upon move in day, they will sell you with “the great amenities and such,” false. The machines in the gym hardly ever work and even with a key card, we’re lucky if the scanner even works. The gate NEVER works (good luck getting a code to get in because you will be hit when a “we’re working on it.”) I’ve been living here for quite some time now without a code which makes it VERY hard to let in guest of any sort. Now, let’s get to getting ANY issue resolved. Management is impossible to get a hold of and I literally mean impossible. They don’t care about fixing a single problem for anyone, just slapping a “we’ll look into it”-“they’re isn’t anything we can do,” or a “please contact the courtesy officer.” If you want to live in a standard apt with minimal amenities and minimal management at a high price, sign a lease. The rest of the surveys from people who have actually lived here longer than a month seem to all be pretty unhappy, so I think it’s pretty self explanatory. The best thing you can do is RUN— it is exactly what I will be doing next month after my lease is up. STILL A NEGATIVE! RUN!
