Of all the trees in City Park the McDonough Oak is likely the oldest and the most majestic. The huge branches have sagged to the ground under their own weight and over time. This tree stood in an ancient forest on this spot long before Europeans arrived or the city was ever considered. A beautiful sight.
The trees are beautiful! The water around it has so many life in them: birds, tutles, and other smaller animals that are hard to see. There are a lot of birds on the trees too but they are not easily spotted but one can constantly hear all their vioces everywhere.

If you love trees and nature you need to come to city park to see this tree. It is very old and beautiful. The lengths the city has gone to make sure this tree survives is cool. It shows they care about it and their park.

Unfortunately I lost the pictures on my phone so I couldn't post it but I love these natural beauties. If you are heading to the city park anyway I would recommend that you take the time to walk on the sides and visit both anesman and macdonogh Oaks. I just wish they put some plaques to highlight their significance. These oak trees are between 600 to 800 years old. This year New Orleans is celebrating their 300 year old anniversary. As a point of reference these oaks are at least Double the age of New Orleans
I love this part of the city, I’m a local and I will come out here to take pictures, I know New Orleans isn’t as scenic as Cali or Vegas. But this is the best we got! Take some pictures here if your from out of town.
