Mattison's City Grille - American restaurant in Sarasota - 1 N Lemon Ave, USA

It's been years since we've been here. Food is great but DON'T sit near the stage if you have a choice. You won't be able to talk or listen to others at your table. Also will get hit with drinks and elder adults bumping their butts on you lol and even a cane if you're extra lucky. Careful with the homeless people that sit right outside the fence!! Great people watching though.

Excellent service that was the first thing I noticed. Our waiter Alex had great energy and knowledge of the menu. The firecracker chicken handheld was lightly breaded to perfection and a LARGE piece of protein. The fried green tomatoes were everything the south demands in an appetizer. A smooth glass of house Cabernet to wash it all down made for and excellent experience and I would definitely recommend this place.

I ordered the haddock and a salad. They were both delicious!! The server was friendly. I also took advantage of the happy hour well drinks. Overall a very nice experience.

Mattison's City Grill is a lively place to be on a Friday evening with live music and good food. The food was well prepared and flavorful. Our server was friendly and attentive. My only complaint is being seated very close to a large fan when other tables the same size but not too close to the fan were unoccupied. It was hard to eat with my hair blowing in my face and napkins blowing off the table.

My sister and I have a tradition of coming here when she comes to visit, and we were quite disappointed this time. We've never had a bad experience here, but the service was slow, the prices were shockingly higher than expected. $18 for 5 small fried shrimp when their Shrimp Rangoon used to be $12 for 5 jumbo shrimp. There was only one other couple dinning but the service was really slow and we waited a long time for refills. Our waitor never came back after we recieved our meal, and our drinks were empty, he only returned to give us our bill. The menu doesn't have the choices like they used to. We will probably look elsewhere to start a new tradition. The shrimp rangoon is good, but not THAT good. Too many really good restaurants downtown to waste our money here again.

I don't eat out very often, and when I take the time to go to this place just to get their Shrimp Rangoon, you can believe it is pretty good, I think the chef 👨‍🍳 name was Nelson if am not mistaken, he did a great job. And the restaurant always has live music 🎶

My wife and I went to this restaurant yesterday for the first time. The best part of our visit was the wonderful live music. Unfortunately, that is where the good ends. The restaurant was not overly busy and we were seated right away. However, after 10-15 minutes we had yet to have a server come to our table. We were contemplating just leaving when the hostess saw us and asked if we had been helped yet. After telling her no she said she would go find our server. A couple minutes later he finally came over. We each ordered a hamburger and asked for them to be well-done. My wife's came out very pink inside, and neither of ours had any real flavor to them. The server never came back to our table during our entire time there except at the end to give us our check. On that end there was no real check as he only had a handheld device that had our order on it. So we could not even look over our check at our leisure while we finished our drinks because he hovered over us wanting payment right then. Finally, after finishing our drinks we stood up to leave and before we could even get out from our chairs someone was on top of us clearing the table. Very intrusive and all-in-all a one and done for us.

Best pizza I’ve had in Florida. I’ve been coming here for 16 years. It’s a good place to hit after the booze cruise for a quick bite. The “key lime pie” is a 4 bite circle with not much taste. The crust is too thick, no flavor, and gets in the way of the pie. Pizza 5 key lime pie 1. Alex is one of best waiters you will ever encounter!
