The Mathis House is a beautiful Victorian Mansion located in the heart of downtown Toms River. The Mathis House Tea Room has two seating times at 11 am and 3 pm on the weekends.
During the week, we have seating times on the hour starting at 11 am and the last reservation is 3:00 PM.
The full Victorian Afternoon Tea includes soup, salad, scones, a variety of tea sandwiches and a plate of desserts with a full pot of gourmet tea per person.
The cost is $50 per person, and seniors are $10 off every Wednesday and Thursday. Children 12 and under are $20 and children 5 and under are free with an adult.

This was our first time to the Mathis House. We were looking for accommodations as we were visiting relatives for the first time in NJ. All the hotels in the area looked a little run down, and we weren’t familiar with the general area. We were VERY happy to have found this place. The house is amazing , and the staff is great. I will definitely be staying here again on my next visit.
The Tea Room is highly recommended. Food was excellent and the staff was VERY Accommodating. My wife has dairy and gluten allergies and they made sure that the service and meal she received was excellent. We stayed at overnight and the B&B was comfortable and quaint. The whole atmosphere is cozy and the owner is a gem. Would 100% return.
A wonderful afternoon with friends. We like to come here a few times a year to sample the teas of the season and to relax. You get delicious sandwiches, scones, desserts, and a pot of tea. Don't judge how small each item may look as you might get too full for dessert. The servers are always so polite and a joy to chat with. We'll be back again!

It’s clear she is passionate about the Mathis House and the guests experience. It’s evident she wants all visitors to experience something special. Absolutely wonderful place to stay! The rooms were beautiful and fun as well! The breakfast was outstanding and the scones and teas were heavenly. The best part of all was the staff…. What an amazing group of friendly, courteous and helpful people! If you are in the area i highly recommend that you stay the night or at least drop in for tea!
The bedding was clean and the comfortable. The a/c worked perfect especially after coming in from 32C temperature to the 3 bed female room. The staff was friendly and was able to handle any requests without issues. I'd stay there again! It was convient to the trams and metro with tickets that could be purchased at the mini markets across the street.
Everything about the Mathis house was fantastic. The mystery night dinner Friday night was amazing. Saturday our breakfast was terrific. we didn't expect to have a theme but breakfast at Tiffany's was wonderful. Our waitress (Christine) carried our bag to our room and was very friendly. We loved talking to her.
