Beautiful! I went on the holiday weekend and though there were a lot of people, it never felt crowded. So much wildlife and natural beauty!
Great spot for a hike. Went in the winter and didn’t see many birds but I heard them. It was fun trying to identify the tracks in the snow. Would definitely go back in the spring or summer.
Your next favorite nature walk! The sanctuary has 9 miles of trails and boardwalks through fields, woodlands, and wetlands; all abundant in wildlife. Consider packing a snack for yourself and some birdseed, as there are many great outlook locations to rest at and enjoy. Admission is free for Mass Audubon Members, $6 for Adults, $4 for Children, $4 for Seniors.
There were many trails to choose from. We mostly stayed on the east side, starting at Pond Mill and the marsh trail, and ending at Charles River. When we looped back we spotted a couple of baby fishers and about 30 painted turtles.
Great Wildlife Sanctuary in the middle of the greater west metro area. Entry is only $6 for adults and well worth it. We saw over 60 different birds and over 15 different species. Make sure to go on the trail that goes by Charles river it was very pretty. Trails are easy to medium but not completely wheelchair accessible. There are great wooden bridges though that are wheelchair accessible.
A perfect place for a walk any time of day. And this time of year, you can bring along your snowshoes or skis for a fun adventure. This sanctuary has a great mix of terrain and lots of water exploration to keep young and old entertained: ponds, streams and the Charles River.
Nice place for a walk. You can pick up trail maps at the visitor center. Multiple trails, easy terrain. Also: there is a level 2 charger (6kWh) for EVs. Charging at a reasonable price ($0.28/kW at the time of writing) through ChargePoint.
Well maintained trails!! Only met 2 groups on my hike on a Tuesday morning:) haven’t met any turtles though. The fee for non member is $6, reasonable. Totally recommend!
