Most beautiful displays and historical details in the "rooms". It's like window shopping, but you don't want to leave. I noticed a few things that I own in my collection of stuff and items I have owned in my past! I AM NOT VERY OLD EITHER! It's located next to Jennings Park in Marysville, WA. I would say some of the displays could hold the attention of a toddler for about 2 seconds and 3-5 year olds add another 10 minutes to that. This is NOT a playroom. This is a museum. It has many things not in cases that are DISPLAY ONLY. Some items are covered and are not to be touched, (I seriously wanted to touch but decided to go over and stare at it instead). Definitely go there when you have time for your leisure viewing. If you dawdle like me, it will take you a couple of hours. A patron of the Marysville Historical Society will be there during visiting hours. If you begin a conversation with them, there is really no reason to leave until they close. Kind and knowledgeable people, board members and volunteers alike. They rent out the hall for reunions, weddings, receptions, book signings and the like. The kitchen is small. They have tables and chairs. If you Google them, they have information on the website. The first picture is the foyer. Sixtieth class reunion, a book from a book signing about a boy from the Pacific Northwest being kidnapped. R.I.P. The last pictures are of rocks and minerals from members of the Marysville Rock and Gem club. The local show will be held at the Monroe State fairgrounds the first weekend in October! See you there!
I am glad that they finally finished the museum. We took our kids to the museum. It is an enter by donation place. They certainly have many items. The staff were very friendly and love to share with you. The building is fantastic. The not so good thing about the place is it looks and feels like a rummage sale. Like they are still setting up the place. Which I hope they are. If everything was organized and set up in an orderly fashion, it would be excellent. That being said it won't stop me from visiting. We will continue to visit and hope to see things we missed. So, please visit and donate so that they can create the museum Marysville deserves.
If you live or plan to be in Marysville you have to stop by and see this place.
It's a great museum. They have displays of the of the early days of Marysville - plus there's a man there that's great and very knowledgeable
Not only a wonderful insight into your history but I was doubly blessed to attend church there on Sunday morning. Thank you for allowing the Berean Baptist Church to meet there.
This place is so cool and you learn about the history of Marysville. We go there for our neighborhood dinner on Tuesdays. If you haven't checked it out, you definitely should. A Gem tucked away in your own backyatd. Every Tuesday @ 6- 7:15 dinner is served by the nicest people. It's free and the food is outstanding. Come by with your friends or family and enjoy getting to know your neighbors.
I've been as a young adult, it is an average history museum, some neat objects, lots of telephone related. I'm disappointed at how un kid-friendly it is. Museum objects are just loose on low, open shelves. Not a friendly atmosphere on my most recent visit. The Granite Falls museum is a much nicer one in the area.
Attended Maysville Community Band concert December 15.
