The rate for a day that you pay at another hotel, you pay here for the entire WEEK!! Sure it's small, cozy even, but baby you get premium location. My room was nice, I spent all my days outside, just came back to shower & sleep. This place isn't falling apart, it doesn't have any bugs, maids & butlers, get over yourself. Go out and enjoy the scenery with your love ones and quit being negative on these posts. Get out there and enjoy LIFE! 🙌 BTW, No one paid me to say this.

I've stayed at the Maryland Hotel 4 different times, for a week at a time, beginning in 2011. The weekly rate has increased every time I've stayed here, but it's still lower than any other hotel you'd find in an area this nice in LA. I have a slight affinity for Glendale, having lived here on and off for a few years, though I don't like what it's becoming - another gentrified, sterile, boring, snooty suburb of LA. The Maryland has lots of flaws, but as the manager told me, "You can't really compare it to any other hotel. It has its own character." No two rooms I've stayed in here are exactly alike. Some of the rooms are tiny, some are bigger, some have bathrooms so small you can barely stand in them, with broken bathtubs and showers, others are average size with a shower but no tub, some rooms have wood floors, others are carpeted, some of the beds are somewhat hard, others are soft, some rooms have fans, others don't (so bring your own fan just in case), all the furniture is different in each room, but all cheap and old looking, some rooms have pictures on the wall, some of the toilets and sinks have issues. The last time I was here I got a room on the 3rd floor, which was so hot it was like being in a sauna, and was slightly noisy because it faced the street. I barely slept for 2 nights there, but I requested a room change and they put me in a better room, lower and away from the street. None of the rooms have tv's. They all have old-fashioned dial phones, but I haven't found one that had a dial tone. They have free wifi, which is slow and works on and off. The blinds don't block out much light at all in any of the rooms. There are no fridges or microwaves in the rooms, just a shared microwave in the basement, along with a small laundry room. I've heard that the more expensive rooms have kitchenettes. It's extremely quiet for being such a cheap hotel. The walls are quite thick, and I've never heard other guests while in my room. The only noise I've heard has been traffic when I'm in a room facing the street, or occasionally the maids vacuuming in the hallway. Because noise is my biggest pet peeve in hotels, this is a huge plus for me. The rooms generally rent for about $40-50 per night or $200-280 per week, depending on the room size and whether you're a first time guest or not. The first time I stayed here I only paid $181 for a week. The last time I stayed here I paid $252 for a week. There are some long term residents living here. I've been living well below the poverty level for all of my life, so this type of hotel is the best thing I've been able to afford. If you can afford better in Glendale, by all means stay somewhere nicer. But if you're on a budget, want to stay in a decent, centrally located area of LA and aren't materialistic, the Maryland is a good choice.

Love the Maryland Hotel. It was home for almost 3 months and I couldn't have stayed in a better place. They are upfront and honest as to what they're establishment offers, so when you rent a room here, you know EXACTLY what you're getting, so please save any future negative reviews. The staff runs a tight ship here, and abide by all the rules stated in their policy (read them), this always made me feel safe. Aside from running a tight ship, they're friendly, amazing and will treat you like family. The rooms are perfect in size for what you request, room service comes by everyday to replenish your towels, and will clean every other day, if not, every day. The daily and weekly rates are at market rate and fair given the location. If you chose the Maryland, it will remind you of home, promise.

If you treat people fair they will treat you fair. If you are respectful to those that are helping you, they will be respectful back. It is not the Ritz but it is a good place with a good staff. They are fair and are trying to not let the scum in the city take over and take advantage. If you have dealt with people where they live or temporarily stay you understand. They were there for us when we needed them and they were fair; thus is my experience for well over a year.. Lolo is a wonderful person. Laura is also wonderful and gets a bad rap because she doesn't take any abuse. Sona is friendly and funny. They all are good people. Maurice is a fair man and has done a great job there. Peace

I stayed at the Maryland hotel for several weeks as I am a student and felt the price was good for the area. Upon getting there a man that lived at the hotel followed me up to my room when I Was given keys to go check out the room before purchasing. Few days later I ran into the maintenance man Carlos in the hallway. He started asking me very uncomfortable personal questions. Such as what room am I staying in , do I live alone etc. I then called the police to make a report on him. I did NOT FEEL comfortable. My room was then switched. Few days after that CARLOS somehow found out my room number and attempted to enter the room while I was inside. It was the scariest experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. I called the police again . No manager or supervisor ever in sight and you’re not allowed to get their contact information. Please DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL IF YOU ARE ALONE. It is NOT safe for women of color especially. They are very RACIST and many other reviews have stated the same experience. It’s dangerous ! I hope this helps someone in the future. Stay away from this racist motel! Slept with chairs against my door for additional safety. I was asked to leave because I called the police on them!

Exceptionally located in heart of town.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ price is fantastic. ⭐️⭐️⭐️if you do not stay in at all just take shower and sleep 🛏 with no AC . I would say is three star 💫 🌟 ⭐️ hotel for sure not😘 Well it makes as much as over a million a year with 52 rooms. I wonder how they could not afford to have moveable ACs in each room! Other luxuries like TVs, bigger beds, better mattresses more updated blanket after World War One or two ,cleaning the hallway carpets and many other three star hotel accommodations updates in pass century ...but air condition!! Please, I heard before that rich people take advantages of poor people financial ability but now I really felt it!! However, to be fair they have clean rooms, everyday they check the rooms and clean it “ if they feel like is necessary. They have good rules to check the guests behavioral problems too; like you can not have your guest to stay with you after 9pm, no smoking in any rooms and making sure you have one clean towel per guest.

This is the good bits about Maryland Hotel: location and walking distance away from all amenities in Glendale; relatively price for its location (US$60 to US$65). And now, the not so good bits: no reservation will be taken, and you need to book the hotel room in person; you need to have correct change and even if you stay here for more than one night, you will still need to go to reception and pay your daily amount with the correct change by 11am, and if you are unlucky enough to be in the queue where guests have a huge row with front office attendant (which is plenty), then, you would need to wait for a while; inconsistency or non communication between the staff (if you are one of the guests that need to check out early, the chance of you getting your deposit back for the key is very small because the night porter will tell you that he has no access to the money till, and even if front office attendant made it clear to you that all will be organised in advance); bare minimum of amenities available in the room (one complimentary small bottle of water), one set of towel even though you are checked in with your spouse; WiFi that is in and out on a regular basis; seedy people that stay here - gunshots could be heard in the still of the night; people were trying with our door knob violently in the middle of the night; some rooms are hired by the hours for certain professions; no curtains and shades even for bathroom (no privacy at all) etc. It is rather obvious that cons outweigh pros. That being said, if you can see beyond all the cons, and that price is everything to you, then, Maryland Hotel is it then. It is not for everyone but it does spin wheels for certain people.

Has a classic charm to it. Room was ok with a decent view. Fairly quiet. No air conditioning or refrigerator which would be a been nice but there is a ceiling fan. The location is absolutely wonderful however and quick walk to Glendale Galleria and the shops in the area. Very safe here.

The best hotel in Glendale hands down! It's obvious why Marriott made this a tribute hotel. Every detail was thought of in this hotel and you literally have to go nowhere between the rooftop lounge and the breakfast bar. The rooms are exquisite in th
