Beautiful B&B in a perfect location! My husband and I spent two nights in the Marie room which has a gorgeous ocean view. It was so peaceful lying in bed in the morning watching dolphins and sea lions swimming in the waves and the seabirds flying through the morning fog. The bed was cozy and the room (the whole building, for that matter) had lovely antique furniture and art.
A full service breakfast is served each morning in the dining room overlooking the ocean, with a fire in the fireplace. The food was outstanding! One morning we had French toast with berries and another morning was eggs with Parmesan potatoes. There is one main entree each day but other choices available if desired (scrambled eggs, oatmeal, granola). There is a tea and coffee bar 24/7 in the lobby. We didn’t get to try the evening appetizers since we were out.
The B&B is located in a quiet neighborhood of beautiful antique homes, right across the street from the ocean with a nice walking trail along the shore. In the morning we walked this trail 15 minutes to the north to visit Lovers Point and beaches. Walking 10 minutes in the other direction takes you to the aquarium and cannery row. It’s a flat trail with gorgeous views. Perfect way to enjoy the area without worrying about driving and parking! The B&B has its own small, free parking lot but be aware spaces are first-come first-served and difficult for large cars to get into. However, there is free street parking with plenty of available spots.
We didn’t spend a lot of time hanging out in the B&B but it’s a very peaceful spot, with multiple sitting rooms overlooking the ocean and a pretty courtyard garden with a goldfish pond. Deer frequented the yard. Every staff member we met was very polite and helpful. Be aware you must check in by 8pm as there is no front desk and no staff there overnight. When you arrive you ring a bell to get your keys.
This is a great place for couples but I would not recommend it for families with children. It’s a quiet place with a lot of breakable antiques and an older clientele. Not kid-friendly.
Overall it was a great stay and we would definitely return!
We loved this place. Sherry who welcomed us on our arrival for one night showed us around and we enjoyed some appetizers, much appreciated after a long day of travel. I found the history that is reflected in every corner of the inn compelling. Sure it’s dated but it’s comfortable and unstuffy and interesting. The location is perfect for exploring on foot. We enjoyed the breakfast and the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. We stayed on the second floor in the Parke room, large with a lovely view, comfy bed. Wonderful spot.
Great location, delicious breakfast, beautiful views and wonderful staff.||The only thing I would recommend when you reserve is to reserve a larger room. Our room was initially very small and overfilled with heavy furniture, so much so that you could barely find a place to put your luggage or walk easily around the room.|Because we were kept up most of the night by the seagulls nesting literally at top of our chimney, they were incredibly accommodating and moved us to a bigger room upstairs with beautiful bay windows and less noise. It made for the perfect trip.|Also note that the rooms are not air conditioned but they get to a very comfortable temperature at night.|We highly recommend the Martine Inn.
We arrived at the Martine Inn after several hours of travelling to be greeted by Sherrie at this quaint inn. Yes, the decor is dated but this adds to the charm of the place. Beds were super comfy and the breakfast was divine. Wine and a little cheese/meat plate is served between 5.30/6.30pm which is a nice touch. The dining room looks out onto the ocean and binoculars are provided to do some seal spotting whilst you enjoy your food. Each room is different with some having ocean views. Although coffee/hot water/hot chocolate are provided in the hallway, it went cold overnight. It would be great to have a kettle supplied for guests with jet lag who need a cup of tea at 5am ! We would definitely return, this is a gorgeous area. Visit Carmel by the Sea too.
Good location, nice room (small). However, we called and were quoted $239 (less a senior discount, plus tax), which we both heard. We were shown the room and were quoted the same price. When we checked our email the next day it was $295 (we were never given a paper receipt), plus taxes. The person who checked us in claimed we were mistaken & heard wrong (she was covering for her mistake). The manager did not honor the price we were quoted & said we should have checked our credit card statement right after booking. We were told we paid the correct price for the room, but the price we were quoted should have been honored. In the service industry, isn’t the customer always right? Not at the Martine Inn!
The first impression when entering the hotel was like going to someone’s great aunt’s house; the deco was dated and our room had musty smell, flowery wallpaper with matching flowery curtains. The sink was in the bedroom. The room itself was also quite small and cold at night.||All that said the room was clean, the garden was pretty, staff was very friendly and the location was excellent. The room rate also included breakfast which was good. Parking and wifi were both good and free.
My husband and I returned to this B&B after many years and were terribly disappointed. First, let me say I don’t post anything negative l unless I try to contact the business and talk about my concerns. I did that and no one returned my call or email. This Bed-and-breakfast is far past it’s prime. Our first room smelled so musty that we could not stay in it. We were moved to another room in the main house. The bed was old and uncomfortable. The sheets were worn thin. The room had only two or three outlets, which is not enough to charge electronics. The outlet in the bathroom did not work for the hair dryer. I had much higher expectations for a room that was over $375 per night. Customer service was an afterthought. Spend your money somewhere else.
This is a tricky review as you will get exactly as the pictures and description read on the sell page, but a few tweets needed to fully wrap up this hotel.|There is parking out front, off road for your car, your gps may take you to the side road, skip that and go to the front|The room we was given is almost exactly as per photos. There will be an alarm clock with a usb outlet, various bits of furnishing to suit the ambience and a bathroom with a shower and toilet and the sink within the bedroom. There is also a small fridge in the room||The hotel offer free wine and cheese in the evening to allow you to view the bay from the front and using their binoculars splashing whales. There is complimentary coffee to help yourself too in the lobby. We had to leave early so missed breakfast.||The property is located on the coastal road so it’s a perfect location. To the left 10 mins walk, Lovers point, 3 blocks back the main road/shops . 10mins right, the wharf /cannery road and more. Everything is walking distance.||The staff are all very polite, there is a pool table to use, table tennis, viewing of vintage cars on site||The few things that people may not be aware off, there is no tv in the room, the staff leave at 9pm, so residents have access to a number to call. However coffee etc is not provided in the rooms instead coffee is available in urn’s in the lobby, but as the staff leave at 9pm and don’t return until around 8am, when you want an early coffee, it’s not last nights cold coffee you had dreamed of. |We also had an animal keep scurrying across the ceiling during the evening/morning||Monterey left is quiet (looking out to the sea), to the right is the cannery area, don’t just follow the main area, there are some gems hidden

Great little B&B that is centrally located in Pacific Grove. Walking distance to cannery row, the aquarium and the monarch butterfly sanctuary.
The rooms were clean and everything worked well (for such an old house). We had no problems. There is a ni
Staff was friendly. Room had plenty of space and was remarkably quiet. Enjoyed the gas fireplace. Best part was walking to the beach. Pacific Growth is a cute town and close to everything you would want to see or do in the area. We would stay again.
Cozy, lovely place. I enjoyed my stay there a lot. Well curated design/materials in the rooms and public area, I liked the attention to detail. Furniture and rooms are in very good condition, beds are comfortable. The building is quite old and you he
Wasn't sure what to expect, so I'm trying to give as detailed of a review as possible so that hopefully whoever sees it has a good idea of what they're paying for.
The rooms were smaller than expected. But if you're intending to be out the whole day
A wonderful place to sit and reflect. The crashing waves are always intriguing. There is a path between several benches in the area. A great place to enjoy while on a coastal walk or bike ride.
First time experiencing Maxâs grill and the food was out of this world! Definitely going to be a repeat customer whenever we pass through Pacific Grove/Monterey. Absolutely amazing customer service, beautiful and cozy atmosphere. 10/10 would recomm
