The place was nice enough, but nothing jumped out. The team members were great and friendly, as you would expect. ||Parking, checking in, or getting your car for a day trip is pretty much a mess. Some restaurants and bars were right in the village next to the Marriot.||We were surprised, and this is because we did not do the research to see any part of the lake; you have to drive; it is not within walking distance. I know it was late August, but I had stop-and-go traffic for 50 miles took over an hour and 1/2.
They should at least give you a bottle of complementary water at check in. I understand it’s a vacation club, but I’m hotel stay. If you are staying as a hotel guest, then they can go down to Costco and buy a case of water to give every hotel guest. They can increase the rate by one dollar per night. It’s called customer service.
Additionally, the front desk said that they charge for additional towels as they don’t give additional towels complementary. After little back-and-forth, they said they would bring some to the room, but never did. The staff is rude, entitled, and very arrogant. Internet TV was not working , and when we called the front desk, we were told that they don’t know what’s wrong and there’s nothing they can do about it. Not that this matters, but I am titanium and have stayed almost 900 nights at Marriott property. I’ve stayed at vacation clubs, Fairfield Inn, Ritz Carlton, and have never received the rudeness that I received at this hotel. Be prepared to bring your own water and towels.
Our third annual trip to South lake Tahoe with extended family. Ages ranged from 1 year old to 83. The previous two years we stayed at the other Marriott next door. We had a wonderful trip. We had three 2 bedroom units. Two of the three rooms were ready at check in time. One we had to wait an hour. We asked to get rooms together. Two were right next to each other and the other one was on the same floor but a distance away. It wasn't a big deal. ||Parking situation was pretty chaotic at check in. Cars were backed up. Rumor had it that they were short valet staff that day. Also one day we were going to a park and there was a wait time of about 30 minutes to get the car. This time it coincided with check out time for others and it was a Saturday. ||Pleasantly happy that the pool was warm. Past two years at nearby sister property it was very cool. We had other family staying at that property and felt the pool this year and it was warm too.||Most interaction with any staff was with housekeeping they were all very pleasant when we would see them in the hall. ||The older woman at the welcome desk was very pleasant and did not try to pressure us into going to a presentation. ||We could not get our ice maker to work and the washer did not work in our room. It didn't bother us because we didn't even know they had in room washers. ||One negative thing that we noted on our way to our room at check in was a very strong odor by the elevator. It kinda smell fishy. We think it was coming from the Fire & Ice restaurant but not sure. It was there for at least 3 days of our 5 day visit. ||The other thing is the mattresses are very very hard and pillows very soft. We had such a great time with our family and otherwise liked the resort that it wouldn't prevent us from returning. ||Easy walking access to Van Sickle Bi-State park if you want to hike or mountain bike ride.||The lodge is right where all the action is. We got to hear music most afternoons and evenings from our rooms. ||Hoping to return next year!
What a pleasure to write this review. As a Disney Vacation Club member for over 3 decades, I exchanged vacation club points to use at Timber Lodge. The property is undergoing renovations to the rooms and I was lucky enough to have a refurbished room that overlooked the mountain. The work on the property promptly ended at 5:00 PM and was not an issue during our stay. I called the front desk prior to arrival, to assist me with questions about the property and to make a room location request, and I was very pleased with the assistance of the person I spoke with and the amount of information she provided. This property is in a great location to explore Lake Tahoe and the village, and other areas within walking distance, made the stay even more enjoyable. Fire & Ice should be enjoyed at least once during your stay. Though the gondola was not operational during our stay the access to miles of hiking trails just out back of Timber Lodge is an activity that should not be missed. Absolutely incredible views less than an hour hike from the bottom. Valet service was incredibly impressive and reliable. I never waited more than 5 minutes for my vehicle. Every member of the staff that we interacted with was pleasant and helpful. The only caveats would be some of the room locations (like those right on the street and near the entrance) I would avoid and the new furniture in the living room does not fit the room and is a bit awkward for the space. Also, the pool chairs in the summer fill up quickly, so keep that in mind when utilizing the pool. Though not quite up to Disney Vacation Club standards I was pleasantly surprised with this property and will plan another trip to Tahoe and definitely stay at Timber Lodge.
Absolutely love Marriott’s Timber Lodge in South Lake Tahoe! The swimming pool and outdoor area are fantastic – perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The rooms are spacious and comfortable; I have a three-bedroom timeshare, and it feels like a home away from home. The location is unbeatable, just 30 feet from the Heavenly gondola and shops, and super close to the casinos. There are also great activities for the kids, like Build-a-Buddy, which keeps them entertained. Highly recommend this place for a family-friendly and convenient stay in Tahoe!
Bro I went here and put can't park you HAVE to valle which is annoying if you wanna go in your room and grab something real quick. The rooms are nice but they have one flaw: the beds and couches are very hard. Also getting into the place can be a hassle because you have to turn into this small drive through on a busy road. The location is good tho because you're in the middle of this shopping district which is nice. Overall good
Very nice experience. Will definitely be back! The location is fantastic with a fun restaurant attached called the "Fire + Ice". Great fun! We like it best in the Fall when we can see the spawning salmon going up the creek and hiking along the scenic trail.
The Timber Lodge is located in the center of the action, right on the boulevard. The pool is pretty big & heated & if it's not warm enough for you, there are 4 or more spa's to chill in. The rooms are equipped with everything you need. It is truly a home away from home. Our villa even had a washer & dryer. The Timber Lodge also offers fun activities to do, like the spiked lemon aid social, ping pong, a fitness area & steam room. The atmosphere is very comfortable & the front desk staff are more than happy to answer any questions plus provide endless activities to do while in Tahoe.

The hotel is new and beautiful. The rooms were extremely clean and well stocked, even the kitchen had everything we could potentially want! The bed was super comfortable, the heated floors in the bathroom were great.

Great experience. The hotel is well located near restaurants, supermarkets, shopping, and beaches/trails. The rooms were well remodeled and quiet. Check in was very modernized and easy, and the staff reached out the night before (and the day of) to m
We stayed in the Rubicon Room and it was lovely. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the room was wonderful and we absolutely loved the lodge, the roaring fireplace, the big beams, and the gorgeous courtyard. Well worth it!
The place is really nice, the water is crystal clear but very cold. It's worth it to pay the $5.00 fee to see this beautiful place. In the middle of it there's an old house, scary but beautiful.
The Mt. Tallac trail is an amazing trail to hike in Lake Tahoe. It isn't easy, about 4.5 miles from the trail head to the summit with about 3,300 feet of elevation gain. The second half of the trail is mostly all rock and is very steep in parts. The
Went with my daughter and husband and came from the heavenly line since the wait at the resort was 2 hours! They helped us right away and we were able to get all the equipment we needed in a reasonable time frame. The staff are super friendly and acc
Beautiful hike to Eagle Lake that took about 30 min after the bridge. This time of year there was snow and ice on the trail that made it slippery but was worth the quick trip up and back.
Took this trail to go to Cascade Falls. It's flat for the first 5 mins or so and then becomes rocky and risky at the corners.
There is some construction work going on in the area so they have put up temporary boards marking the trail. Good job!
