Marriott DFW Airport South - Featured Reviews (1335)
Not the greatest or even a great Marriott but good enough for an overnight stay. The airport shuttle and shuttle drivers do a great job. FDA staff is friendly. ||Club Lounge is closed on weekends. No upgrade for Titanium...since it was only one night I didn't ask for an upgrade although the app showed me in an upgraded room earlier in the day.||I stayed on a Friday night...Saturday morning breakfast in the restaurant was chaotic at best. No place to sit...empty containers on the buffet. Very long line at the omelette station. Capacity definitely exceeded staffing levels. A very good example of why the M Club should be open on the weekend. Titanium Elite left with no place to eat breakfast...hotel was booked with folks in town for local sporting events...most were seen paying cash for breakfast so not Bonvoy Elites or otherwise travelers who would put meals on the folio bill. Many Hyatt hotels have an area reserved for Elite members rewarding the loyalty with a table and seat...even when busy.||I mentioned the chaos and lack of seating to the FDA and was told that the GM would contact me and provide a customer service adjustment of points...no call, no points...several weeks later. I guess I should take that as the "blow-off" that it is...||I passed on other hotels in the area hoping for a better outcome this time with Marriott DFW South but still faced the same lackluster experience.||Not the worst property...A little bit of fine-tuning by management and this could be a stellar property.
This would be 4 maybe 5 stars if not for the restaurant. ||The front desk staff is great, the rooms are comfortable and quiet, the location is central.||The restaurant staff is absolutely awful. They screwed up my dinner order both nights of my stay. No apologies, and the second night I even had to pay for a second meal. There was confusion about which wines on the wine list they actually had. I travel a TON for work and almost always stay at Marriotts. I've had platinum for several years. And I've honestly never seen anything like it.
Positive: Very clean, beds are super comfortable, they offer amazing lil hospitality comforts for your stay. The lavender spraying mist for your pillows and bathroom hygiene products were amazing.. definitely will prefer hotels that offer these great products. ?? Negative: Loved everything!
Check in was smooth, employees were helpful and polite. The first night there we went swimming. The pool was quite cloudy and that was the only time we used it as I suspect that the pool is the reason for a fungal infection under my acrylic nail (I've never in the last 10+ years gotten an infection from the nails and the condition of the pool pointed me that way. Not saying it was for sure, but just an FYI for others to be cautious). It was a chlorinated pool yet we could smell no chlorine in the water. Proceed with caution. The room was clean and nice, doors slam very easily though. There's a restaurant downstairs, can't say much about it as we decided not to eat there. The coffee place next to the entrance was not open for any of the 4 days we were there. There are no microwaves in the rooms, but there is one next to the coffee place. At an average rate of ~200ish a night, microwaves should be an amenity in rooms. There's a small gym area which was nice. Overall I give it a 3, and that's because location was ideal and rooms were clean. There's quite a few things they could work on here though. We stayed for a conference so we didn't have a choice but would not choose this particular hotel given the chance. I was disappointed in it because Marriott hotels are typically better quality than other chains.
I was here for a two day meeting, and the hotel is roughly 9 miles from the airport. They have a shuttle but given it is a 15 or so minute drive depending on traffic you have to call and request pick up/arrange drop off from and to airport. First off, the staff is GREAT. From the front desk team to the banquet staff everyone is friendly, welcoming and attentive. The meeting space and food/beverage services were wonderful.
The property is older but the rooms are comfortable, clean with a decent air conditioner/heating system. I was able to keep my room cool with a constant fan which is a key thing for me for the white noise while I am sleeping!
Close/walking distance to some restaurants (and a Starbucks) which was nice given I did not have a car and the coffee kiosk/area in the hotel (Grounded Roots?) was closed the entire time I was there despite having signs up in the elevator promoting it. I am a coffee fiend, so it was a little disappointing that was not open but they do have complimentary coffee in the lobby each morning.
Based on the brand of the hotel expected it be a fancy place and no doubt it was but the rooms might be infested. 1st night ignored the itchy signs but 2nd night had marks all over my body and in the morning informed the manager about it but since I was checking out same day nothing could be done. Fortunately, I had to extend the stay 1 night and found that they did nothing about it. The manager had pretended to note down the issue on a blank paper and took photos of my hand but no use. Thanks to Bharat for moving me for the last night.
But the team lacks coordination as well. I had requested late checkout and they simply checked me out at 7am and called me later asking why my bags were still in the room ? Once this issue was fixed, I extended the stay on call and when I came back there was no reservation for the extra night.
The location is good but stay at your own risk.
Hotel is very nice parking lot is convenient large and well lit, rooms are clean beds are comfortable they have everything you need. Staff is friendly, pool is nice perfect for an early morning swim also fitness center is very nice, laundry room is convenient
My husband and I were here for a chess tournament. We received a corner room at the end of a hallway on the 4th floor, and it was very large! The room was clean, the bed was super comfortable, and the air conditioner was quiet. The only reason I did not give this hotel more stars was due to staffing. When I went to check in I had to wait a long time while the one desk clerk was on the phone. Another employee finally came out from the back to check me in. It seemed odd to me that being there was a tournament going on that weekend they would not have better staffing coverage. The same problem with Saturday morning breakfast at the restaurant. There were 2 waitstaff and that was simply not enough for the morning rush of chess tournament attendees. I think I saw a total of 4 employees the whole time I was in this hotel.
