Made it to Elmira on a return trip from the Finger Lakes. This University campus is gorgeous and full of beautiful old buildings. This was not the original home for the study but has become its final resting place. It wasn't open the day we visited but I was able to peak in and just loved the decor. I am sure most of it is props and not the real belongings of Twain. I did read in the nearby Hall they have a display of his stuff. This was such an awesome opportunity to peek into the past.
The study is closed when Elmira College is closed. Was still able to view from outside and peeked in window- lovely setting on campus.
The site was closed when I visited, so I had to peak in through the windows and see what I could see from the outside. The structure itself could use some TLC, but the thought of Twain working for 20 years in that study, finishing some of his most incredible novels while summering in Elmira? Inspiring. His gravesite is also only a 3-4 minute drive away.
Even if the Mark Twain Center is closed you can still peak in his old study.
Great little spot to visit when passing through Southern Tier (NY). Twain wrote his most significant work while summering in Elmira. Call in advance to ensure study is open. Also, check out the exhibit in nearby Cowles Hall.
Interesting piece of American literary history which is a must see in the Finger Lakes Region. You can also visit his final resting place at Woodlawn Cemetery a few blocks away. The gravesite is easy to find.
Well kept actual place where Twain wrote several books was relocated to site from farm overlooking Elmira. Mark Twain society in Elmira located at Elmira college.
A great suprise stop. The town of Elmira, NY has a college that houses Mark Twains study, and his grave is near by also.
Yooooo! If you live or work or occasionally visit Elmira you need to check out this place. Lucky 7 Deli on the corner of Walnut & Washington (used to be a Byrne Dairy).
They make all kinds of things but it's a Mediterranean/Middle East style kitchen
My family and I love Libs! The food is always amazing and the staff have always been friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is a bit dated, but that doesn't matter to us as long as the food is good! I highly recommend Libs to anyone that gets the
Takes a lot to impress me. Food and service were excellent. This was a first and definitely not our last time! Prices are good, too! I recommend getting their cinnamon toast, so yummy!ð
Barista was lovely and suggested my drink (an iced cinnamon bun latte) and it did NOT disappoint! I absolutely loved it 𥰠Plenty of seating around the cafe and street parking down the block! Overall really nice atmosphere and I hope to back again!
Awesome store always love coming here. Awesome place to bring someone. So many animals to look at. They have birds, fresh and saltwater fish, bunnies, chinchillas, hamsters, ferrets, ginni pigs, mice, shrimp, and even living coral decor for your fish
So impressed with this hidden gem. I had no idea this place was a restaurant for the first 3 years living here. Now I visit weekly. The fettuccine Alfredo and harvest salad are 10/10. My go to favorites.
Always the place to go for hard to find specialty items for specific receipts! Best place in town for bakery items and unique gifts. Got a few treasures today!
Great course, groundskeepers do an amazing job. Very nice clubhouse. Should consider having some dates throughout the season dediated for public play, let your local golfers enjoy your beautiful course.
Beautiful venue! I was impressed with all of the staff and the place was nice and clean! I never knew how beautiful Elmira is until my trip on Wednesday!
Nice place to dine solo or with family.
It was nice to see their delivery truck unloading fresh foods. They have daily specials and a menu with a good variety but simple.
My chicken was cooked to perfection and not dry and had freshly cooked mushroom
