Mariner's Inn - Restaurant in Hammond - 117 W Thomas St, USA

Not a great experience! When we first arrived everything was fine, we got our appetizer and drinks and placed our order. Waited 45 minutes for our food, which was okay, it was a Friday night! The food came out, we had no silverware or napkins, we ask for those and never received them. So after waiting for 10 minutes and never seeing the waitress again, we had to eat with our fingers so at this point our food was cold. We Never got refills and waited 15 minutes for someone to bring the ticket and a box. Then to top it all off, the receipt prices didn’t match the menu prices. The menu stated $24 for a 12oz and $28 for a 16oz, we were charged $28 for a 12oz and $33 for a 16oz. I’m all about supporting downtown business, but I’m honestly sick about spending $90 and having to eat a ribeye with my fingers. It was my husband’s first time here and we honestly have no plans of returning.

I read several reviews before penning my own, and going to Mariner's Inn is akin to a roll of the 🎲: You either love it or loathe it. My sentiments skew towards the latter. We were greeted promptly on arrival, and the server took our orders. Two sweet teas, one water, one cheeseburger cooked medium with a side of veggies, and one order of mozzarella sticks. The cheeseburger arrived first with shredded American 🧀 that was not melted on the patty. When I took a bite, I noticed two things: The burger lacked flavor (thank God for the onions), and the temperature was closer to rare. The mozzarella sticks were all right, but the side of veggies (yellow squash, squash zucchini, and onions) was another letdown due to lackluster flavor. We reminded our server about our cheese sticks and extra sweet tea after I received my burger (I think they forgot to put it in), but this was quickly fixed and brought to our table. As an added benefit, we weren't charged for those items. The atmosphere was as expected, and I don't have strong negative or positive thoughts. I also didn't notice a smell as other reviews have noted. Since this is my only experience with Mariner's Inn, I can't recommend them. However, feel free to try your luck.

This place has good tasting food, friendly staff, and my favorite part: the pool table! My fiancé and I came here for lunch, we sat near the pool table, played a game, and enjoyed every bit of food we ordered. The flank steak was tender and very flavorful, the corn and Crab bisque was delicious, and the spinach cheese dip was also very tasty! My fiancé had buffalo wings and he said they were done just right! I had the bartender make me a passion fruit lemonade and went for a 2nd round within minutes! Lol. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

Went to this restaurant to celebrate my husbands birthday. I ordered nachos/ side salad and he ordered steak. Our salads came out 10 minutes after our order was taken. Our main course came out 40 minutes after our salads. Server never check on us or acknowledged the length of time our food was taking. This is our second time at this establishment and it is our last.

I came tonight to try it out, I had the tuna steak and my gf had the kickin chicken sandwich. The service was horrible, I had to ask whatever waiter or waitress that was around for things like refills on our drinks. When we finally got our food it was cold, the only thing hot was the veggies. I ended up sick to my stomach because of something I ate there. I usually understand that restaurants have an off day but I highly doubt I will return.

Very disappointed with this place, as it looked like it would be great from the street. Restaurant is very dark, but well decorated with a "Mariner" theme. We ordered a shrimp poboy and the chili. They were out of chili... so ordered the daily special-chicken piccata and pasta....out of that too. So got the lasagna. Check out the picture of it...yes it was gross. I need not say any more. I'd have done better to buy a Stouffer's frozen lasagna at the grocery store and heat it up. The poboy was mediocre...the shrimp were small and rubbery... look at those pics too.... The menu touted they were "fresh gulf shrimp". I assure they were not. They were amazingly small: 30 to 40 count size, and they were frozen shrimp. The French fries were cooked in grease that should have been tossed last week. They were cold and greasy. I gave this place 2 stars only because it has outside seating and the decor gave it a charming appeal, and the iced tea was good, even though it was $3!!! That was the only good part of the meal.... as we spent $40 on food we did not like at all. We will not be going back for a second try.

Kid's chicken tenders were awesome. The chili ??? Not so much. I will admit that I ordered the chili in the heat of summer so they may not have been prepared for that !! And the wait staff doesn't have a ton of experience. They weren't bad, just not a lot of experience. The cozy patio is dog friendly so that's a plus. Not thrilled but we will give it another try.

11-20-23 The worst steak I’ve ever had, thin, burnt, no way it weighed 9oz, tougher than wet leather! My husband had to put ketchup on the ribeye to eat it! Vegetables were raw, wrong salad dressing on salad, ask for a to-go-cup of water but they brought a plastic drinking glass, garlic bread was soggy because it was thrown on the steak plate and it soaked up steak juice. The place was nasty. Yes it is old but that’s okay; I like the history. There were old pieces of food in the table cracks; not okay. The women’s restroom faucet totally grossed me out. What is that pink stuff around the faucet handles??? I could go on, but no point.
