Margaritas Mexican Restaurant - Mexican restaurant in Pasadena - 155 S Rosemead Blvd, USA

Visited Margaritas with high hopes, only to find the alcohol overpowering the other flavors in each version of their namesake drink I ordered. They certainly live up to their reputation for strong cocktails, but the balance was off - too much potency, not enough finesse. Left feeling that what was supposed to be a home run was, at best, a base hit. Not a poor experience, but not the standout one I was expecting either. Future visits? Maybe, if they can better harmonize their mix. Three stars for effort and boldness.

My husband and I recently decided to go out on a date and we both had a strong craving for authentic Mexican cuisine. We chose a restaurant that advertised traditional Mexican dishes on their website. We visited the restaurant on a Tuesday night and were pleased to find that it wasn't crowded. The workers were nice and attentive, and we were seated quickly. However, we were quite disappointed with the quality of the food. I ordered a chicken dish and my husband had the steak picado, but both dishes lacked flavor and didn't taste like authentic Mexican cuisine. The food seemed to be more Americanized than what we had expected. We were hoping for more authentic flavors and spices, but unfortunately, we were left disappointed. Despite the attentive service, the lack of flavor in the food was a major letdown. Unfortunately, we won't be returning to the restaurant again.

Been coming here since I was a kid and the food here is always delicious. I had a Three Item Combination with Two Cheese and One Chicken Enchilada $16.99 and it was fantastic! The food came quickly and the servers are all friendly. I hope they bring back their weekday lunch buffet one day. Free parking in lot.

We came here on a Thursday early afternoon and it was empty. Service was very fast and the food was delicious! The look of the restaurant is very nice and makes it feel like you’re actually eating in a town in Mexico. I’d definitely come back here and bring my family. Would recommend to anyone.

First time here it gets crowded/ busy we wait for like 15 mins to get seated but I had a great experience the waitress was so friendly the food & and drinks were delicious

You know the feeling you get when you leave a place and realize you didn’t take ANY pictures for a review? That’s me, that’s this review. Lame, I know. I was meeting a friend for dinner and it simply slipped my mind! Haven’t eaten here since before the pandemic, and didn’t really pay close attention back then to the food, etc. So we’re gonna take this from scratch. I DO remember that their blended tamarind margaritas were MAGICAL - I ordered several, they were so sweet/spicy and good. However, having one this time, I was super disappointed (and embarrassed - I insisted my friend order one, too). It was mostly slushed ice, the taste was super bland, and the sweet/chili rim garnish that was like candy way back when, was so salty and bitter, it made me cough the two or three times I sipped from the glass. No bueno. 👎🏻 The chips and salsa were good - but we had to ask several times (sometimes twice) for more before and during our dinner. Kinda like water - these things should simply keep being replenished (at least before the food arrives) without guests having to ask or remind the staff that we’d already requested more. It was not busy at all - so that wasn’t a distraction in this case. I ordered the carne asada burrito, which comes wet with red sauce over it and small scoops of sour cream and guac. No rice or beans on the plate, which was fairly surprising/disappointing. The burrito was tasty - not mind-blowing, but something I would have again, no problem. I do think for $15, the burrito plate should come with beans and rice. That would make it much more attractive in my opinion. The staff was friendly; just not terribly attentive when it came to certain aspects of our experience. And once we’d paid the bill and were sitting talking (hadn’t caught up in years, so we were there about two hours or so - again, it was not busy, so we weren’t being real estate hogs), we were invisible. No one asked if we needed any more water, more booze, more chips - we were done and they were done checking on us. At one point, I had to snag someone passing by to ask for more water (would have been another margarita if the first hadn’t been so disappointing). All in all, this is a decent spot. Even solid, I’d say. But I do think the quality of food has declined post-Covid, which makes me sad; I can’t see myself going out of my way to eat here again with so many other Mexican options in the Greater LA area.

Fast service so far. I came here with my family and got a tortilla soup, caldo de res (beef stew), and I got me some flautas, and well the food arrived on time didn't take too Long which is good. The tortilla soup was good. It had cabbage, squash, carrot, and potatoes. It looked exactly like the beef stew but the only difference was the tomato sauce they added and it had no Corn. And there was just a bit of garnish of tortilla chips. The beef stew did come with corn, cabbage, squash, carrot and potatoes I ordered the flautas dish the comes with guacamole. But I'd like to say it was underwhelming. The portion for the guacamole to flautas ratio was miniscule, though, for my liking at least. If it Had just a little more to even out my portions I would probably give it a better rating. But the menu has it as if it's a decent amount. Bot too happy about my dish but now I know. I did ask the lady if that was the portion given. Because I was hoping for more. But she just yes. The food was ok. It looked replicated . But maybe I just chose the unpopular items because it just wasn't a good impression of the orders we got. I'm quite picky when it comes to Mexican dishes as I usually cook it . But it's always nice to try different Mexican restaurants . I definitely have been to better locations. It's just okay for me. Hopefully they cam improve on this anyhow they can.
