Not to be confused with Meramec State Park! This park is much prettier and has a lot more to offer. The fishing is more difficult than other MO trout parks that I've visited, but the fish are of good size. Lots of trails and beautiful scenery. Rich in history (used to be an iron mining "town"). Nice playground. Plenty of picnic areas. Decent campgrounds. The bathroom by the electric sites is much nicer than the one at the basic sites.
Maramec Spring Park In St. James, Missouri. Is The Most Beautiful And Peaceful Place! We Enjoyed Walking And Admiring This Park. Crystal Clear Water With Lots Of Fish, Nice Museum With Lots Of History, Great For Kids And Fishermen. We’ll Definitely Love To Come Back. next Time In The Area. highly Recommended.
Campsite: Fair size with gravel drive. All spots are shaded. Very nice shower house. A little on the high side , but seeing the campground and park getting upgrades and grounds well kept is well worth it. Park: I have been coming here for right at 63 years. I never get tired of seeing it's beauty, and feeding the fish.
Camping: when we got to our site there was already some standing water on our site. We had to camp over the rocky driveway for RVs. After a massive storm our tent was floating and our campsite was under 3 to 6 inches of water. We had to wait a few hours anyone was available to see if we would move our site to higher ground. We were able to move and the rest of our trip went semi smoothly. Photos below are from the flooding and some of the cool things you will see hiking around the park.
The park is beautiful. The spring was so crystal clear. Had a fun day nature walking, checking out the spring and walking the dog. Everyone we saw that was fishing had some massive, great looking trout. I haven’t fished there in years but it was still everything I remember, great spot and tons of fish
We were quite impressed with this lovely area! The scenery is amazing. We didn't mind paying $5 (cost per car) admittance fee. The paths are easy walking, with some steps here and there to get over the little bridges.
Beyond amazing. such a beautiful place to see some outdoors. the rules that they have placed upon the fishing are pretty overboard. nevertheless well worth checking out.
