Génial ! Nous y sommes allés avec nos enfants en sortant des Winwood Walls. Pas habitués à ce type de cuisine, nous avons eu droit aux conseils et suggestions du chef, et à beaucoup d'attention portée à notre égard. Une belle expérience !
Danny greeted me with a smile and I appreciate that. This place is not new to me at all they use to have a small kitchen at the citadel in miami shores, so it’s just a great place to have a mixed Caribbean culture in a dish. Personally my favorite is the honey jerk chicken bites. Location is kinda in the cut, in a new development with Dante’s hifi and love life cafe with in the same plaza.
Today I’ll expand my palate with wings, mixed with the honey jerk and coconut shrimp. Side of plantain Fries, and a drink called ting.
This is a Caribbean restaurant. The word Manjay means “eat” in Creole. I ordered from Ubereats and this was my first time eating from here. I would like to say this won’t be my last. The prices aren’t crazy. I tried the jerk chicken bowl with sweet plantains and fried plantains. Fried plantains were crispy and flat just how I liked it. I don’t like sweet plantains unless they are cooked a certain way and they were just right. The jerk chicken was flavored, moist and plentiful. I also tried the griot with the red beans and rice and a side of plantains. The griot was ok. I didn’t care for the red beans and rice too much. I don’t know what kind of rice they used but I didn’t enjoy it and there was too many beans. I felt like I was eating more beans than rice. The Pikliz tasted a bit different from what I expected but I do know they put their own twist on stuff. All in all it’s ok but not what I expected
We were expecting authentic Caribbean food. Unfortunately the food was lack luster. The jerk chicken bites were deep fried and lack the flavor and texture of traditional Caribbean food. Literally the chicken was difficult to chew like other reviews mentioned. The coconut curry shrimp, rice and fries lacked flavor. The sauces were adequate but overall would not recommend if expecting flavorful Caribbean cuisine. The service and environment were good.
I'm from the Caribbean and can attest that this is not "Caribbean" food and those chicken bites are not "jerk" seasoned. The chicken is over-fried chicken nuggets. Lacking in flavor, hard and difficult to eat. No hint of jerk but honey is there. The rice was bland and not representative of authentic rice and peas. For $18 and a mandatory 10% service charge, the meal is grossly overpriced.
Awesome hole in the wall (literally). Daniel was awesome and so was the food. Will definitely go again!
Food was good, service was great. Such a pity that this restaurant is at the towards the back of the alley with no sign up front on NW 5TH Avenue to show that Manjay was at the back. My one complaint though is that apparently the workers are not paid their tips.
I have very mixed feelings about this restaurant, on one hand i enjoyed the vibe, atmosphere, service and food but when wanting to tip, i find out that the workers don't get their share? i used to work in the service industry and being given a tip here in this country is the right of the staff. I won't be coming back until I know this has changed.
Do some marketing and you would have more people in this restaurant, treat your staff right and you will make your money back in no time.
Don took good care of me for my first time and gave me suggestions! The jerk chicken bites were juicy and the rice was flavorful! Banana fries were awesome! The garnish was good, too! No complaints!
Overall great food having tried the jerk pork and chicken. Very large portions for a reasonable price. Friendly and helpful customer service. Restaurant is typically busy so best to call in your order and there also is no indoor seating. Not sure if
The food was BUSSIN!!! Iâm visiting Miami the night before the cruise and I was looking for some food to eat and stumbled upon the Jamaica Corner. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We ordered oxtails and jerk chicken and the food was top tier.
