Manatee Hammock Campground Review
Overall Impression:
Manatee Hammock Campground offers a unique camping experience with its proximity to Kennedy Space Center. Despite some minor drawbacks, the campground's location and amenities make it a worthwhile choice for those seeking a peaceful getaway.
Pros:
* Prime location for space launches: The campground's proximity to Kennedy Space Center provides an unbeatable opportunity to witness rocket launches.
* Friendly staff: The check-in process was quick and efficient, and the staff member was described as friendly and helpful.
* Quiet and peaceful atmosphere: Due to the off-season, the campground was not crowded, offering a tranquil environment.
* Well-maintained grounds: The campground was tidy and well-kept, with a dog run and a dock overlooking the Kennedy Space Center.
* The restrooms/ bathhouses were a little older, but were very clean.
Cons:
* Small campsites: The campsites were reported to be on the smaller side, which could be a challenge for larger tents or campers.
* Red ants: Red ants were present, though they were not aggressive and did not pose a significant issue.
Additional notes:
* Mosquitoes: Surprisingly, mosquitoes were not a problem during the stay.
* Construction activity: Some construction work was underway near the pool/rec center area, but it did not significantly impact the overall experience.
* Biking: While there are no dedicated bike trails, the campground's roads offer a leisurely cycling option.
Overall, Manatee Hammock Campground provides a memorable camping experience, especially for those interested in space exploration. Despite the minor drawbacks, the campground's location and amenities make it a recommended choice for visitors to the area.
Start with the positives: This is a beautiful piece of property. Love the beautiful Indian River and dock. Our lot was a good location and size - lot 78. The fenced in dog park is huge and well maintained. The pool, pickle ball court and shuffle board court look great!
Now the negatives: the #1 negative is the man that works here!!!! He is grumpy and rude! This seems like a simple fix to be but I guess Brevard County doesn’t read reviews. The signage and rules at this place are out of control yet our “neighbors” broke a lot of them so I guess they are not enforced.
Also, my brother and I picked our spots by each other so we could camp together and without telling him the guy switched his spot because his rig was smaller and could use a smaller spot! I would understand that IF the place was sold out but it’s empty!!!!! He could have even given him a closer to spot to me but didn’t. This man has no customer service skills!!!!
Side note: lots of mosquitoes- come prepared
It was nice the couple nights that we stayed there. You can see the launch pad at Kennedy space Center. We also saw a firework show. Nice dog park for dogs.
Cons
Lots are close together, and there is no grill, or fire pits
Really nice campground near the Banana River. Close to Kennedy Space Center and the Warbird Museum. During my stay was fairly full. Lots of shady campsites. Quiet nights. My one recommendation. Use bleach to clean showers as mold in corners. Restrooms could be cleaned more frequently. Found the floors to be wet and tracked in dirt throughout the day and sink counters to be all wet and toothpaste. I know this has to do with peoples own lack of care for others. I would recommend this campground.
This is a wonderful place to stay. Shade trees abound. The space between most of the sites are decent. Expect to have to level your rig. It is an older campground and the Laundry room etc shows its age. But all the laundry machines worked. The pool and pool area was clean and kept up.. This is a government owned and operated site and the office represents that. The person behind the glass was pleasant and helpful.
The campground itself isn't that bad, it's actually nice if you count the pool and dock/fishing area. Sites are shaded which is a plus but they are close together. Luckily when we went there was hardly anyone there so we had no neighbors. Would give it a higher rating if they didn't randomly close the pool for no reason. Been there a couple of times and they closed the pool stating there was a storm, but yet it was sunny on both occasions and it never even rained. Spoke with other campers who stated the same thing had happened to them on other occasions and they were equally as upset. Also be mindful sites don't have any grills or fire rings which was weird for a campground and if you need Wi-Fi it didn't work for us, but we were there really to enjoy the pool and fishing so we didn't mind. I would say it's also missing a playground, considering they close the pool so much, give the kids something else to do. Would not stay here again unless they addressed the pool being closed all the time for no apparent reason.
Very nice location and even though we missed two scheduled launches, it was really a nice stay. We had one neighborhood kitty that decided she was in love with my husband, and it was a very nice three day stay all around. We'll be back, for sure.
When we arrived we had been moved to a different site then the one we had booked 5 months prior. The location is great for viewing the rocket launches from Cape Canaveral. Park was well maintained as were the bathrooms.
A nice wine n beer bar with many selections and friendly staff and locals. Great stop off point to view rocket launches! Public parking nearby. The tapas are very good! The Titusville playhouse is only 2 blocks away and a short walking distance.
As the Starbucks boycott continues we decided to try this highly spoken of place called black cat coffee. It DID NOT disappoint! When you first walk in the aroma is already stronger and better than Starbucks. We bought 3 refreshers which cost us half
Saw the humongous building from the outside while in the KSC explore tour.
Just amazing to imagine the number of rockets that have been assembled here and successfully launched!
Also, there is a part of the bridge kept at the visitor excess area whic

My son and I wanted to try a new place. The shop is clean and well maintained. The atmosphere is a standard deli setup, order at the counter and they bring your food to you. The food was great. I had the expresso which is pretty much Cuban coffee. I
It was my first time there, and it was a great experience! The vibes were great, the food was good, the drinks were on point, and the music was epic! They treated us great for my birthday weekend.
