Mama's Oyster House - Seafood restaurant in Natchitoches - 608 Front St, USA

The taxidermy animals were very cool! My #1 dish in all of my food journeys of Louisiana is found here, it’s the Cane River catfish on angel hair with étouffée. Absolutely amazing. Oysters were good, for an oyster house it’d be nice to have more than one location source for options. Pecan pie was definitely the way to finish the great meal.

The waitress and managers were very attentive to our needs in a incredibly busy environment. I was a little sad with the food I ordered. The grilled oysters were very blah and the cheese was not melted over the top. My steak was seasoned well but I ordered medium rare and received medium well. The potatoes that were served with them had way to much pepper in them. I will say the fresh vegetables were cooked and seasoned well. Very delightful. I will recommend this place as that day was the middle of the festival.

Really good fried fish, shrimp,and crawfish! Plate was big enough for 2 !!! Stop in have a cold drink and some great food!

The only reason I'm giving two stars is because of the nice waitress we had. My wife and I both ordered the catfish creole. Very small portion of food for a rather high price. Nearly chipped my tooth on the overfried, hard as a rock hush puppy (the ONE that was included). Had maybe two shrimp in the small spoonful of creole they gave. Food did not taste good. Very disappointing.

Nice ambiance as far as the setting goes. Food is sub-par. Pecan pie was THE BEST ITEM! Shrimp and corn bisque was too lumpy and too salty. Their fried fish has that fish fry gritty coating on it.

We have been here multiple times and it has always been great. This time was HORRIBLE! We waited 1hour after being seated before we got our drinks, and even longer for the appetizers. It was not even busy when we got there. The drinks were wrong when they came out and the chargrilled oysters were so bad we couldn’t eat them. Tasted super fishy and like they just put Swiss cheese on them and heated them up with no seasoning or garlic and butter. Needless to say we did not eat them and did not order (not that we had a chance to order). They had the check all messed up and we weren’t even gonna worry about it because anything you asked for took 20 mins. I can’t believe how bad it was. $100 and we left irritated and hungry.

A gem 💎 but be sure to arrive more than 30 minutes before closing as the kitchen closes down a bit early. The food is top of the top for a bar in a small community. Live music was surprisingly awesome for a small spot. But hey, it's The South so I should have expected hidden talent Serving staff was super and friendly. The atmosphere reminds me of Cheers but with a Texas / Louisiana twist. Check out all the shops nearby and the Church around the corner, oh and the gorgeous riverfront.

I couldn’t wait to have the fried oysters! My fiancé ordered the swamp platter. Our waitress was sweet and tried. Food took forever! Boy was I sad! For a huge price my plate had tiny burnt oysters! His platter was not a platter but a small plate! Sent mine back and offered to pay for my salad, she was cordial and apologized. So for a couple of frog legs, tiny gator bites, a few crawfish, hush puppies and fries almost $50 bucks! Sad.
