Maison's Fine Food - American restaurant in Detroit - 13031 Mack Ave, USA

I intended to pen a positive review for Maisons. I was attracted by its Instagram-ready decor and visually appealing food online. However, the overall dining experience fell short of expectations. While the French toast chicken & waffles were enjoyable, earning a tasty remark, the Belgian waffle was commendably light, and the chicken bites well-seasoned, the rating settles at a modest 6 out of 10. Regrettably, the "lavish" catfish shrimp & grits failed to impress. The grits were both bland and lumpy, relying on the Cajun sauce, fish, and shrimp to salvage the flavor, albeit insufficiently. The resulting taste was forgettable, warranting a rating of 3 out of 10. Additionally, the use of plastic utensils and cups for dine-in customers seemed peculiar. Wrestling with flimsy white plastic utensils while enjoying hot food detracted from the experience, conveying a low-budget impression. In essence, Maisons, though visually appealing, operates with a small mom-and-pop mindset, falling short of the standards set by establishments like MaryBelles, Dime Store, and Le Petit Dejeuner. Our community deserves a more satisfying culinary experience. Good brunch matters!

Service was exceptional from start to finish. Our food was awesome! Catfish/shrimp with grits and Chicken bite strawberry crunch waffle. Love the decor. Bright colored warm and cozy seating. Great choice of lighting. Progressive restrooms.A little pricey but worth the treat. Gratuity of 18% included not wasn’t mentioned upfront.

Overall positive and good experience for what it used to be as a child. Food was great. Should receive more than 3 shrimp for catfish shrimp and grits menu item. Menu was priced considerably well. Service wasn’t 5 stars, but would be based on the location, and other local favorites. The only thing that would make service 5 stars is offering water to all guests upon seating. Atmosphere is clean, open, fresh air, welcoming, friendly, and aesthetically pleasing. I see people complaining about plastic cutlery while comparing this establishment to others. I say hey…to each it’s own. I preferred plastic because I know it’s clean. I’m an able-bodied adult, so I found no issues or inconvenience in tearing plastic open to eat. Food came out reasonably quick. I will be returning. Great updates on this establishment. My server was very patient and hospitable.

The upgrade to this fine family restaurant is nothing short of amazing service was wonderful, food was mouth watering delicious, great coffee too. Please check them out you will not be disappointed.

Although the trendy decor was a hit the presentation of the food wa also a hit the food was a miss, Serve coffee in paper cup that was extremely hot and dangerous, the Grits were drenched in liquid butter and not real butter making them Oily. The server is always ready to get back to her phone. We won't be back also she just told us a total we had to ask for a bill not knowing the gratuity was already in the total she stated so therefore she doubled dipped receiving 15.00 off of a $43.00 bill😩💁🏽‍♀️🥴

Very stylish decorated venue with friendly staff. The food was a total let down with flavorless French toast that was suppose to be graham cracker crusted with vanilla glaze, sausage patties(too greasy and very well done), turkey bacon(was very delicious) and home fries that were barely a portion size and two different textures over done and barely done with no flavor. The prices are competitive compared to other brunch places but the food needs some restructuring. $32.00 for this not worth it.

Service was amazing! That was the one thing I did not expect but was very satisfied to have. VERY. Daisy was pleasant and with it! My food: waffle was fire. grits beautifully fragrant but soupy and not thick - they have a subtle garlic infusion that is refreshing to the palate. My homie's food: Fruity Pebble French Toast, he enjoyed, eggs on point, and bacon was too cooked and stuck together. Beverage: That orange juice needs to move to fresh squeezed or a better option just no longer that machine - was hitting my stomach after. My homie said his coffee could have been better (I didn't have it so I can't be specific) The service was great so nothing less than 5-stars. The decor was lovely. I looked forward to coming back with these issues becoming possible positive highlights!

This place sells food à la carte there are no specials we had four people at our table. We had catfish which was one piece for $10 two sides of grits $8 two cups of coffee in a to go cups $6 another person ordered chicken wings 3 for $10 two sausage patties which turned out to be bacon because they didn't have sausage $8 for half pieces of bacon not whole strips two eggs scrambled 3.50 one waffle $10 and for two more scrambled eggs with cheese $3.50 cheese $0.50 this place is outrageous the food was terrible and tasted like garlic and I will never ever come back here service was sorry and took too long we had to ask several times for silverware we had coffee with nothing to stir it with and DEJA D added to the worst service ever Total was $78.74 gratuity was included with my bill. I would not have left a tip because I asked for salmon patties and grits they had no salmon patties someone else asked for oatmeal they don't serve oatmeal and she asked for tea and they don't sell tea. I asked for sausage patties and they had no sausage patties this was breakfast 11:00 am for 4 people it was outrageous. I saw this place on the news had never been here before it is black owned that's probably why the service was so bad as well as the food. Don't waste you time or money it was truly awful.
