Maht Gaek Carrollton - Korean restaurant in Carrollton - 2625 Old Denton Rd #540, USA

I've been here many times, and the dishes have always been great without any disappointments. The portions are also quite generous. I really love their spicy beef offal pot; it looks fiery but you can still taste the meat's natural flavor, which is fantastic. The pork spine and potato pot is another favorite of mine. What I love most is their complimentary potato salad – my boyfriend says it reminds him of flavors from his childhood, haha. We always come back for that potato salad.

This place is FANTASTIC!! This is a must visit every time we are in Carrollton TX. The Korean food and atmosphere are 💯 authentic. We love their military soup. The star of the show and their specialty are the grilled pork ribs. Both are absolutely delicious!!!

K Style. K Taste, but expensive $$$. 맛객 (Maht Gaek) literally means a traveler looking for tasty food. They do offer authentic K food. Their ban chan (side dish) is top rate. I remember them serving a few more side dishes in the past though. Their K stews are great. They will probably do good even in Gang Nam (prestigious part in Seoul) against other K restaurants. Just like everything else in the United States, their prices have gone up significantly. But I believe that they have increased more than other competing restaurants. Nonetheless, they still serve one of the better K food in DFW. Their K BBQ is just ok. So, if you are a meat eater like me, go try other K BBQ restaurants. The restaurant is located in the HMART shopping center, so expect some waiting during the weekends and holidays.

We stopped by Maht Gaek for dinner Sunday evening and there was no wait. It is a cozy restaurant and I would expect there to be a wait at prime time. We ordered the oxtail beef soup, spicy beef soup and the grilled mackerel. My first sip of the broth of the oxtail soup was extremely anticlimactic. The broth is extremely bland and there is no seasoning whatsoever. My wife’s soup was also bland as water, just spicy. I am unsure if this is how it’s intended to taste but we were not impressed. The grilled mackerel was good. It is hard to mess up mackerel. The best part was probably the sides. Their kimchi was awesome and the fish cake equally delicious. Despite the tasty sides, we will not be coming back as there are better Korean fares in the vicinity.

I recently visited this restaurant, and it came highly recommended by my Korean friends, which is a how you know it’s legit. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by the smell of good food and nice servers. I ordered the pork ribs for $36 including tax and tip, which was amazingly good and ample for two people. The attentive service from the staff and the welcoming ambiance make it an excellent choice for group gatherings. There were two tables celebrating birthdays, and a couple on a first date, so the whole room was very lively.

You know this place is the go-to whenever you crave Korean comfort soups! Everything I've tried here tasted amazing, and their quality is always marvelous. The service was pretty good - servers were punctual. The quantity of meat is pretty good for the price. Would come here again!
