Small town local eatery focused on good down home food. Chicken was 5 star for sure. I had to have strict standards as I drove an hour 20 minutes to come here. Very crowded and tight. We are with other people which I'm not a fan of. Not all tables are like this. My iced tea was only filled once. I wasn't upset but this isn't 5 star service. The owner is warm and happy. I felt welcome. Desserts were worth trying. My main complaint is other than the chicken everything was cold. Portions were on the small side as well but not bad for the price. My pics are on other phone. I will come back and post.
Nothing beats having the home cooking I try to avoid these days. I ordered friend chicken (dark meat), collards, and Mac n cheese. Fried apple pie for dessert. No complaints! I recognized Don and Doris from their website. Don was making rounds to all the tables ensuring all were satisfied and thanking them for this visit. This is the perfect place to stop at when breaking up my East Coast travel. Great people. Great food!
Absolutely delicious!!! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming it’s just refreshing!!! The owner stopped by and chatted awhile. Just a pleasure. I had the baked pork chop and it tasted like nothing I’ve ever tasted and the yams and potatoes!!! WOW!!! My husband had the fried chicken and he loved it! Thank you Magnolia 23!!! We will be back 😊

Everything was fantastic! We got there right at 11:00 a.m on a Friday. There was no wait. Our server was absolutely delightful and the food was amazing. I got fried chicken, collard greens, cornbread, potato salad, and a fried apple pie for dessert. The fried chicken was probably the best fried chicken I have ever had at a restaurant. I was eating it so slow because I didn't want to end. I would have to say the same for the collard greens. The potato salad was good but for my preference I did add a little bit of salt and the cornbread is good...though not my favorite. The fried apple pie was very good with a nice buttery crust. I will be back probably anytime I pass through Asheboro.
1st time there. Wonderful owners. Very friendly good service. Great food. Treated my husband and I to dessert for our anniversary. Please visit this restaurant you will not be disappointed.
The brunch was delicious. I had the fried chicken, yams and collards. My daughter had the smothered chicken. The owner, Don, is friendly; he checked to see if we were satisfied with our meal. Magnolia 23 is truly southern hospitality.
The best spot in Asheboro to enjoy delicious, authentic southern-styled soul food! And, everything is made from scratch, too! There are many classic dishes on the menu, and also, lots of daily specials to choose from, including the side dishes, with an ever-rotating dessert menu, to boot, all of which make the restaurant a very friendly choice for the more daily sort of patron. I very highly recommend their baked macaroni and cheese, as it's absolutely amazing! There is a parking lot in the back of the establishment, though it can often be crowded around dinner time, since it's a very popular place with locals and traveling visitors, alike.
