Mad yolks is mad tasty. Really enjoyed the mad chick sandwich whose chicken patty reminds me of Taiwanese style fried chicken. The runny egg doubles down on the richness, the brioche bun holds it together, and the bit of arugula cancels out all of the calories (allegedly).
Dirty tots were also quite delicious and stayed crispy longer than I would have expected. The curry is a familiar flavor.
They messed up my order and it was still the best chicken sandwich I've ever had! I know I've said that before but this time I really mean it. My egg was overcooked, no runny yolk 😓and yet this chicken sandwich, on a house made brioche bun with a well dressed arugula was amazing. I hesitate to put this in the standard "chicken sandwich" category. It really is in a class all it's own. Big juicy thighs, how many times do I have to say that? Forget those dried out breasts... And the spice on the coating, do I detect 5 spice? We also got an egg in a cup thing with mashed potatoes and that was good but it's all about the chicken sandwich. Next time I'll get two sandwiches and the dirty tots.
Oh, Strawberry Macha was also great.
Simple, clean, cool vibes here so don't mess it up people.
Worth every penny.
This place was absolutely amazing ! The food was truly delicious, the atmosphere was upbeat, and the inside is so clean and neat. Everything about this place is worth coming in, including their great music choice !
I tried the Mad Chick sandwich and it was GREAT! Huge piece of fried chicken and pairs great with the fried egg and greens. Can't remember what the sauce was but it also was great. Cool vibe. Quick in and out breakfast for a person with a busy schedule. Wish they had some cold brew options for the coffees, the iced Americano was so-so. Still a great experience!
Found this gem in Santa Cruz while picking up some stuff on sale and decided to find something to eat in the area. fFund this place close by that just opened. There is a paid parking garage close by or paid street parking. I believe it was opened 5 month again in a very busy downtown by the marina. Cute busy place where you can see many college students go. Very hip welcoming restaurant.
I love eggs and bread. I always look forward to good eggs and good bread. How do I describe it? I just loved it! The bread is like the Chinese pork bun bread but better, softer and butterier. The egg was moist and cooked just right with cheese. The B.A.E was good but wished it had more avocados and bacon but I know it would be more expensive than it is already. We also ordered the Mad Chick. How do i describe this? The chicken was very good, crunchy and moist, good size. They use dark meat and the breading had a little spice to it and it tastes good together with arugula. We also tried the pineapple & mango tea drink which was very good too.
Customer service was good. Line was fast. Tables are not make and have a few tables outside but I can tell it can get pretty busy here. Wish they had a place closed to home. Will be back when in the area again!
Stumbled upon this great brunch location in downtown Santa Cruz. They serve unique egg sandwiches that will blow your mind away. You have got to try the "Mad Chick" sandwich, a juicy house-marinated fried chicken with an over-easy egg, pickled cabbage, baby arugula, and garlic aioli. We also ordered the B.a.e. sandwich, a soft scrambled egg, extra sharp cheddar, thick cut bacon, avocado, caramelized onions, and sriracha aioli. This place did not disappoint and the service was spot on. I highly recommend you stop in next time you're in Santa Cruz.
Ate here for the first time today! I had the chicken sandwich and it did not disappoint! I added bacon and caramelized onions. The garlic aioli was bomb! Sandwich was wrapped nicely as to not make a mess. Bun was perfect. All around great experience and I’ll be back for more soon!
I love Mad Yolks. Their GF bread is delish and their breakfast sammiches are good. Especially for Santa Cruz. However, ordering delivery is a hit and miss. The jammy eggs were...not jammy and undercooked, so I'll not be eating that. But I've never had a problem with a breakfast sammich order. Just the Jammy eggs
