Mad River Rapids RV Park - RV park in Arcata - 3501 Janes Rd, USA

Clean, quiet and nice place to stay but amenities are not accurate. When we checked in we were told there was cable, two wi-fi connections and the pool was usable. The cable is not hooked up so don't even try to connect to it. There is only one wi-fi with one bar and no password required. Using it is spotty at best. We never got to use the pool because we were busy exploring during the day and the office closes at 5 p.m. even though there is a sign on the pool that says it's open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. We even tried during the day and the pool was supposed to be open but they had it all locked up. Why pay to keep a pool if you aren't going to let the visitors use it?! We got the reasoning that corporate has changed a lot of amenities, If that is the case I challenge corporate to offer better services to the RV park. I went to the RV park when it first opened and it was great. Unfortunately it's been bought by someone who doesn't want to put the energy into it to make it a great RV park. Overall the place is still nice and clean and there are long-term residents but they are all nice and quiet and really stick to themselves. We hardly saw people outside their trailers at all.

Very clean and well maintained. The sites are very nice, it’s a pretty park, with trees all around that are kept well trimmed to accommodate the higher profile rigs. It was a surprisingly quiet park; we like to sleep in and that wasn’t a problem 👍. The manager was very nice and allowed us to move to a different site when we realized upon arrival that we had 30 amp but wanted 50. Very close to restaurants and small grocery stores as well as the ocean. We did not utilize the pool or restrooms so can’t give an opinion on those. We had a very pleasant stay and wanted to stay another night but would’ve had to move to a different site and opted to hit the road. We stayed in a 35’ fifth wheel.

You pay $76 plus per night while your live-in neighbor pays $25 per night. You show up with your really nice RV, you are quiet, you follow the rules and you're excited about exploring the area. You're placed near a bitter permanent resident who pays $25 a night, leaves their dog pens and children's toys outside, has an RV that is rotting into the ground and has no limit to the amount of noise they're generating - all while paying THREE times more than them.

A wonderful gem to stay at while in Humboldt County. Conveniently located off the 101, within walking distance to a few restaurants and shopping, and a very short drive to one of most magical beaches in all of California, the Mad River Rapids RV park has consistently provided a great experience every time. I typically stay a night or two a few times throughout the year in my 36' rig and have never had an issue. The park is incredibly quiet and clean. Staff cares about your experience and works hard to maintain a pleasant environment. Many who stay have pets, including myself, but - by and large - everyone cleans up after themselves and there is not excessive barking. I really appreciate the laundry room, which was upgraded last year, as it is a bargain compared to local laundromats. The Good Sam discount was discontinued a few months ago, but front office check in is very effortless and pricing is competitive to other facilities. As someone who often travels solo, this is one of the very few places that I consistently feel safe. Other reviews mention long-term renters, but that is a very small portion of those who stay and it seems like many of those residents work. You don't see bad behavior, or hear loud music. Overall, this is one my favorite rv parks I've stayed at because it is such a consistent experience. Kudos to management and staff for working so hard to maintain the property and equitably enforce rules to ensure everyone can enjoy their experience!

Very nice, well maintained RV park. Large spaces with grass and trees. Friendly staff and nice facilities. Came looking for a safe, clean place to stay, and didn't have to look anywhere else. We found it here. Looking forward to a long term stay while attending Cal Poly.

We had only booked the RV-site because of the swimming pool for the children, but when we arrived they said it was under maintenance. A look into the pool area showed a technician who was trying to install a chair lift using an extensive cell phone search, which was apparently a day-long task, but even after the technician had finished his day, the pool was unfortunately not opened again. It was a real shame, the children were very disappointed and the area is too expensive without a pool.

We enjoyed the clean campground facilities, helpful & friendly staff, & well maintained grounds. The sites are large with beautiful surrounding lawn, trees, & shrubs.|The restaurant next door to the RV Park is an added perk. Especially if you like good Mexican food.

my husband had been working out their since October and since moving in to Mad River it has been great home away from home .Nice staff and Carol is always very helpful. The the facility is always kept clean and nice to have store and restaurant close by .
