We went here for breakfast. Big portion. Nice staff. Didn't take long for you food. The cinnamon roll was average ( I wouldn't order it again) I like them hot, and doughy. It was any of these. The skilled was good.
Went for our mother's birthday dinner, we were not disappointed. First, the service is outstanding, our server was awesome!! The food was excellent. They off the table a basket of dinner rolls and pumpkin bread, as well a bowl if cole slaw and apples served family style. I had the smoked prime rib with mashed potatoes and green beans. The food is homestyle comfort food. They offer many dishes including steaks, chicken, pork, seafood. Save room for dessert. The slice of chocolate gouache cake is huge!!! They're special is an apple dumpling with ice cream, also very good. Very spacious dinning areas, comfortable seating in a farm themed setting. They also have a gift shop to browse through.
Quaint eatery for friends, family, and large parties. Went there with the kid and hubby for a quick bite. Our server was efficient. Not overly warm and friendly but she got the job done. Food was good. Fresh. Came out as expected. Good portions. Price was a bit high for the Bloody Mary. For the food, about average for eating out these days. Not a lot of options for those that don't eat meat. Unless you like sweets. Then you are pretty solid.
My favorite place when in Illinois. I love the free appetizers of cottage cheese and apples and bread basket. You can't top it. Waitress was on spot during my dining. Food was great.
My daughter has always loved coming here! She orders the chicken sandwich. Its fried fresh, and the Focaccia bun is almost the best part! Good food and great service. Never a disappointment!
Smoked brisket, chicken pot pie, and banana bread were fantastic. The gift shop is quite fun with a cook book for hot dogs.
We were going to go to a chain restaurant when we passed by this place. It caught my boyfriends attention and he was so drawn to it, we switched our dinner plans. Boy are we so glad we did!!! Think, Cracker Barrel style but better! Not a chain, just an authentic home style place that has a wonderful shop in the front where you can buy all kinds of fun items (including their cookbook filled with all of their recipes)! This place is a wonderful place for down-home cooking! Where the "fixins" that are brought to the table before the meal are coleslaw, cottage cheese, and a bread basket with rolls and sweet bread (aka banana bread). The food was spectacular and the portion sizes were very abundant (to the point we made 2 meals out of our dinners, with lunch the next day). Our only regret is that we don't have a restaurant like this closer to our home!
We were in a special party side so can't review the main restaurant. The room was cold so had to wear coat so reason to knock a star down and parking lot had snow/slush and wish it was cleared. The service was awesome and we had people at the party that was very picky and gave her a hard time. She kept her cool and did great. The rolls and sweetbreads that come to share at table was delicious. I did not try coleslaw or cottage cheese they also provide. The turkey Ruben was very delicious. Also deserts are made there daily and are yummy.
