NO ALOHA SPIRIT! My husband and I were preparing to celebrate my Mom’s 90th birthday in beautiful Maui and we were scheduled to stay at Ma'alaea Surf Resort. My Mom would be joining us on the same flight since she needs assistance because of significant vision loss. A few days before we were to depart from Portland, Oregon, I tested positive for COVID 19 and given the risks to my Mom and other passengers on the plane, we had to cancel our trip, which I had hoped we could reschedule. I immediately contacted the property manager at Ma'alaea Surf Resort to explain the unfortunate situation and to my surprise and disappointment, the property manager would not allow me to reschedule our stay and kept all of my $3,300 advance deposit. I did the right thing and the only thing I could do, and the penalty (complete forfeiture of my $3,300) was WAY TOO HARSH! To the property manager and owner, I would simply ask you to reconsider this unreasonable decision and allow me to reschedule the trip and use my $3,300 when a unit becomes available.
They got one of the best spots that doesn’t feel touristy and you can literally walk out of your patio to the ocean. The beach is not crowded and there are a ton of food options from near by food trucks closer to Acela Mauka. They don’t have the packages like snorkeling tours, food, all inclusive etc. and if that’s what one wants then up north at Kaanapalli will be better fit. This is the right place for families that want to stay in an upscale beach focused resort closer to where locals call it their home. The swimming pool is warm and cleaned daily and the premises are well kept too.
Perfect stay, listening to the ocean and enjoying a beautiful view from our balcony. We fit 5 comfortably in F5. Ideal location to explore the island, near to the highway and just north of Kihei town. A few minutes walk to the Maui Farmers Market, a bakery, and ABC store.
Excellent condos with an awesome view. Hawaii in a nutshell. Updated, comfortable, and came with all the things we didn't pack. Great attention to detail. They know a thing or two.
Stayed in G9. Beautifully updated and remodeled. Amazing view of ocean and poolside from the condo. Very comfortable and quiet. Located in North Kihei. Was able to walk miles on the beach. Would stay here again.
The main pool was shut when we were there but the small one was really nice. Are condo was right next to the water so we saw whales every day. Swimming in the ocean is really nice, the water is shallow for a while (going out) and the bay is protected a little from the waves. During the day we saw lizards, whales, birds, butterflies, jellyfish and even a turtle! During the night we saw a scorpion, a snake, geckos, and a praying mantis. From are place we walked up the beach early every mourning and the views are really nice. The sunset is also really nice. Overall it was an amazing place and I would definitely recommend it !
Note: About a month before we came the place flooded and there was still some damage and leaking at the place
The resort and people are a 5 star, however planning is a problem. We stayed in Sept of 2021 and just before arrival were notified of construction in condo next door and we elected to stay and deal with it. Fortunately it wasn't too bad and we liked enough to book for Nov 2022.
On our date to pay our remaining reservation, we were notified that again construction was going on and this time after several rounds were notified our reservation was cancelled entirely.
Flights and other reservations have already been made so now we find ourselves in a last minute dash to find alternatives which is problematic.
So book at your own risk. We love the place, but I don't know how we can rely on it for future reservations.
Please note the service and overall rating apply to the resort and condo owners in general, not to the person who manages the reservations and gets you settled. She is wonderful, this is out of her control.
Amazing location and facility!!!!! We came on a family vacation with our 2 young children and parents. We loved the close proximity to the ocean… STEPS away from the beach! And the pool is centrally located. I am not sure if it was an off time… but it literally felt like we had the place to ourselves… appeared to be mostly older retired types that were here. They keep everything clean and top notch. Condo was well stocked, comfy beds and hot showers! If you are looking for a party/ night scene type of place… look elsewhere. If you are wanting a quiet, relaxing, private getaway, book here!
Many units are owned by individuals so your experience may vary. We rented 508 and it was marvelous. Super clean, freshly remodeled and a kitchen that had everything. Very central to all areas of Maui. Met a few residents and they were an added
Location is great! Expensive but the buyer determines value. Our condo had a wonderful view, a nice lanai and a short walk to a beautiful beach. Pool is nice too. It checked all my boxes for a great time in Maui.
A beautiful place at the south end of Kihei, in Maui. Easy to access, close to the beach. Sidewalks to walk all the way into Kihei if you choose. Close to restaurants, ocean views, turn left out of the entrance, and you are on the road going strai
The BEST meals Iâve had in Maui are at Earth Aloha Eats. Amazing plant based options for vegans and non-vegans. Recommend the chickân burger and the pulled pork fries. Gyro is also tasty (but so packed you might not get to actually wrap it). Come
