I would’ve never known this place was here without searching for something new and interesting to do in LA. It ended up being 15 minutes from where we were staying. The history of Lummis was fascinating. So glad we found this place and learned another piece of important history.
We went there on Mother's day and we were the only ones there. It was absolutely magical. The museum attendant shared a lot of interesting information about the places and about Mr Lummis. Gorgeous house and park.
The visit in the Lummis House - El Alissa was a fascinating tour to the past of the area and Lummis part in it. Christian who takes care of the place and curates the exhibition is a well of knowledge. When you are coming for a visit, it’s a must to have a chat with him after you walk around the property. A hidden historical jam in LA . We enjoyed our conversation with Christian and his amazing knowledge about Lummis and the area.He was making the entire visit exceptionally fascinating. Most recommended!!!
A really interesting and historically significant site. Well worth a visit to see the grounds and portions on the main house. The lone staffer clearly has a passion for this place and makes it come alive for visitors. I highly recommend it.
Unfortunately the Lummis Home-El Alisal was closed, but will be open and free on the Museums of the Arroyo Day!
One of the most interesting spots in LA. If you have a passion and love for Archaeology, you must visit. There is much to appreciate with the art of the building, and the nature that surrounds it. To learn more about the builder of the house, Charles Fletcher Lummis, the Southwest Museum of the American Indian details the his work and passion of archaeology. Dennis was a great host for our experience.
Charles F. Lummis was an author, activist and historian who, after dropping out of Harvard in 1884, decided to walk from Cincinnati to Los Angeles. An amazing house built rock by rock by an amazing man. I loved the interior. The niches, the wood work, the carvings. This house has so much spirit and personality. A must see!
Interesting location and great historical information from the docents. A lot of the site is closed to the public and it is in need of repair but it's still a great place to visit.

Valentina and Helen are absolutely wonderful trainers. They always go out of their way to help everybody out: always giving adjustments to improve posture and performance. I always book a session when one of them is there. They also play great music.
