Luana Waikiki Hotel & Suites - Hotel in Honolulu - 2045 Kalākaua Ave, USA

Affordable price but that's why you get what you pay for. ||Check-in process: Straightforward but def do not expect your room to be ready early. I did appreciate the lei though.||Guest room: Simple but dated. The kitchen is a convenient feature with a mini-fridge and well-stocked kitchen supplies. Wifi was functional, not super fast but I did not notice any slow-downs for web browsing or video streaming. However, the bed is not all that comfortable. And the AC unit was incredibly noisy. The vents on the AC would not lock into position so I had to use toothpicks to prop the vents open and stay facing upwards to the air would cool the room and not cool the floor. ||The bathroom was the biggest issue! The door hinge was rusted so the door would not close entirely. The shower knob was also malfunctioning initially so that all the water would come out of the tub faucet, not the showerhead. We had to call engineering, who thankfully was able to fix it but it was still a hassle. Also, there was a huge cockroach that appeared out of nowhere one night! ||Other amenities: The gym was OK. Did not use the pool since I'd rather swim at the beaches. I checked out the HH wine/cheese event, which is a nice gesture from the hotel, but it was not all that eventful.||Parking: I did valet park at the hotel. They were very nice and quick about getting my vehicle when needed. I did appreciate that. ||Check-out process: Also pretty straightforward. Charged us the remaining destination fee. Bid farewell with some bite-sized shortbread cookies. ||||Overall, Luana offers more affordable rates. The hotel staff was friendly and tried to accommodate as much as possible with all the problems. But I'm sorry, I would not recommend...||I'd rather spend a little more and rest assured that my guest room is more modern, clean, problem/roach-free.

We chose this hotel based on location as we were getting ready to move our youngest daughter to UoH- Manoa and needed a home base to stay and organize things before move-in day. My husband booked this and based on most of the reviews it seemed like a decent hotel. It definitely was not... if you base a review on the lobby and nothing else...it seems to be ok. Then you get to your room. Ours was on the 5th floor and looked NOTHING like the bright and beautiful pictures that are posted of the hotel rooms. They are OLD and GROSS> the bathroom especially. There was black mold or mildew all a long our ceiling in our bathroom and all along the rim of our sink. The faucets are old and don't work properly in the shower. The air conditioner was a joke > loud and feel like it also smelled like mold/mildew. The floor was old and had broken tiles. I would NOT STAY HERE AGAIN! There are plenty of other nicer hotels for similar prices that are much nicer in the area. Stay clear of the Luana Waikiki Hotel & Suites.

The hotel itself was in a great location near the beach and also the main Honolulu strip. It was close to the zoo and aquarium which was great for our little one: also close to a HUI car share station so this was brilliant for exploring Oahu more. The kitchenette in the room was brilliant with a baby and the staff were able to get us checked in early which was nice. We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the room and how little room cleaning service we received. We missed the first cleaning as our baby was having a nap but were gone by 11am and in the last hotel the staff came back to check we were gone and serviced our room. The floor was so dirty our little one’s hands and feet kept going black from crawling around. The WiFi was only working in the room and not the balcony. Pool was lovely and a good location. Just a pity about the rooms when we did flag to reception on multiple occasions.

Everything was really good. The hotel itself is very good, comfortable, cozy. The view from the room is gorgeous. ||There are big questions for the people who work at the parking lot and do not know how to communicate with their guests. We tried to ask for help from the hotel staff at the reception, but they did not want to listen to us at all. The guy was very rude and hit our car because my husband asked him to leave the car for a couple of minutes near the hotel, to which he said no. He said that we block all the cars from behind, although there were cars parked near the hotel for hours. I'm not sure we will return to this hotel again because some of the people who work there are rude and don't try to help in any way in this situation. ||The guy who met us in the evening when we arrived was very nice to us and answered all our questions. Thanks to him.

One star is the max I can give this place Room: The sofa bed is completely uncleaned and there are large stains on the sheets. The kitchenette and the washroom has a weird smell, and the AC is very loud. All furnitures in the room wobbles and cracks. Service: They don't provide housekeeping for stays under 5 nights, never seen this before. Asked to replace the sheets and I went down and grabbed a bag of sheets and blankets and did everything myself cus housekeepers are all gone. The only thing good about this place is the price and location, but you can stay at a much better place than this. Don't come.

Pros Check-in process was very smooth. Very good hospitality. Location is really good. Walkable distance from Waikiki beach walk. Cons AC could have been better. They don't clean rooms during the day. It was strange to see that they clean rooms once every 3 days. Expensive resort fee for amenities you will rarely use. Overall if you are looking for a budget experience and looking only for a place to stay, this will be a good hotel to stay.

Stayed here in one of the rooms that was turned into an AirBnB. Located Ina pretty nice spot kind of away from the busy, busy of Waikikki but close enough in walking distance to it and a great good truck park. The front desk was very helpful and friendly but room service was not part of the deal for the Airbnb and can't comment on that but the hotel itself was pretty clean and employees friendly

Luana exceeded our expectations! We had a corner one bedroom that comes with a kitchenette. There were two patios, one with Ocean view, and the other one with Cityview. It’s amazing to see all the way out to the ocean! The rooms were clean, very spacious living room and bedroom and its walking distance in the middle of everything. Having an amazing time!
