Luana Kai - Resort hotel in Kihei - 940 S Kihei Rd, USA

We had a wonderful two week stay at Luana Kai. Four of us stayed in a 2/2, then when two of our group left, my husband and I moved to a 1/1 with a beautiful ocean view the second week. Both were on the ground floor and easy to walk out the lanai to the pool and grounds. The front office staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, from a change in dates, to helping us with logistics when needing to move to the other unit because we decided to stay overnight in Hana, to checking out earlier than planned. Thank you to Leslie and all the Luana Kai staff. The property is beautiful and "old school." This is not the Four Seasons. But if you are looking for a well maintained, flowery condo complex with room to cook your own meals if you want, relax with a glass of wine on the porch, do your laundry in the unit, borrow coolers, lawn chairs, and umbrellas without paying to rent them, and enjoy spectacular views of the water, fragrant landscaping, and stunning sunsets, this is your place. Another reviewer stated "if you stay on the ground level there are a lot of bugs" and this was simply not true. Also, the condos are individually owned, so when I called to book, the office staff directed me to units that met my needs. Just ask! Finally, the extra fee for air conditioning is pretty typical around Kihei. It was warm in May, so plan accordingly. Power is very expensive in Hawaii. If we return to Maui, I will definitely call Luana Kai again and book directly with them!

Family of 4 (52,52,17 27) stayed in B308 for a week in July. Check in was very easy. Keyless (code) entry was very nice, not having to keep track of our room key all week was great! Plenty of free parking. Garbage and recycle available on-site. Grounds were impeccably maintained. A large variety of lush tropical foliage all over the property, with lit tiki torch lights at night. Nice pool/hot tub, plenty of seating and BBQ grills, full kitchen at the pool...microwave, oven etc.. Easy walk to the beach. Not really a swimmable beach (rocky and not very clear) but still beautiful for early morning walks and sunsets. One of many things we loved at Luana Kai was early mornings. It is so peaceful and serene. The birds sing the most beautiful songs as the sun comes up. It was truly a highlight of every day!||The condo itself was beautiful. Very clean, organized, updated and decorated beautifully. We paid for the AC all week and it performed great, kept the entire until cool at all times. We did keep the curtains pulled closed during the day to keep the sun from heating up the glass doors. We kept the units around 74. We had one incident where the unit in the boys bedroom started leaking onto the bed. We shut it off and called the office. Even tho they were closed they called us right back and brought spare linens for the bed. They said sometimes the unit does that, it wasn't broke. We ran it again and didn't have anymore issues ||Kitchen was FULLY stocked, we made several dinners and breakfasts and never needed for anything. Ice machine inside the fridge worked great. Washer and Dryer worked great. We did several loads of laundry while there, even supplied laundry pods. We did bring our own fabric softener sheets. ||The unit was stocked with multiple fans, luggage racks, spare blankets, beach Towels, beach chairs, umbrella, 2 coolers (we used them every day!), ice packs in the freezer (used them daily as well), trash bags, laundry pods, coffee filters (we brought ours from home), cooking spices, salt, pepper, Tupperware. Lots of thought went into supplying this unit. No elevators at this property. ||The decor was very tasteful and tropical themed. The various "catch all" trays placed throughout the until was a nice touch. Helped us keep track of our sunglasses, rental car key, money and jewelry . Not much counter space in the upstairs bathroom so they added a 3 tiered basket organizer that I got a lot of use out of. ||Beds were not great but comfortable enough. Nice linens, plenty of pillows. Extra power supply by the beds for charging devices was really useful. Plenty of hangers in the closets, plenty of drawer space. ||TV worked great with a huge cable channel offering. Night light in the hallway was nice to have in the evenings. There is a book near the TV for visitors to write in. Enjoyed reading thru that and of course we left an entry on our last day. We left the newest version of "Maui Revealed" behind for others to enjoy. We also left our sunscreen, bug spray and snorkel gear behind for others to enjoy. ||We enjoyed eating meals on the lanai, it was so peaceful and the pool/partial ocean view was breathtaking. A little hot with the AC blowing hot hair right on top of us but nothing you can do about that.||We truly enjoyed our stay at Luana Kai, it was so nice to come back to after a day of exploring the island. It felt lime home. We really have no complaints. The price was amazing for what we got, we will absolutely recommend this property to anyone who asks. Thank you Luana Kai for a magical week on Maui.

How do I put this? I used to live in Kihei back in the late 80s, and Luana Kai represents the very essence of Kihei: calm, serene, beautiful views, and kind people. Our room, located on the 2nd floor, had air conditioning, and the view was great. The condo was roomy and the amenities were plenty. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies, there were beach items available for our use, and the beds were very comfortable. When we return to Maui, we will definitely stay at Luana Kai again. Great location. Good prices. Superb views and space.

Incredible visit and location. Condo was very clean and lots of good information left in the condo to run the tv, air conditioner, and just about anything else. Excellent location! Beach is 3 minute walk. Swimming pool and Landscaping all very clean and maintain daily. Could not ask for much more.

Nous avons séjourné au Luana Kai un complexe situé dans Kihei. Un endroit parfait pour passer nos vacances, une piscine et un spa, mais aussi un espace BBQ, table à manger pour préparer nos repas en bordure de piscine vraiment cool !!! De plus, la vue de notre condo est superbe nous voyons la baie et le couché de soleil. Ce n'est pas le meilleur endroit mais c quand même très beau !!!!! Je vous le suggère sans hésiter ! Le complexe est ultra propre et tranquille !!!! Les gens sont respectueux des autres. 10/10 !

Great jumping off point to the rest of the island. We enjoyed our stay over the two weeks we were in Maui. The resort is great for a longer stay, it started to feel like home before we left.

The views were beautiful, but the beaches were not good for swimming or laying on. The place asked to remove shoes, and after walking across the floor, our feet were filthy. Is was not very clean. The bathrooms were tiny with the smallest toilets I've ever seen. They were like kindergarten chairs. The showers were very low. I'm 5ft 11in 190lbs and i could not stand under them. The Loft had no privacy at all. Also the loft bathroom had no door. This was problematic, as my wife turns in early, so when I went up to bed and brushed my teeth and got ready for bed I disturbed her. Also the noise carries to the loft very loud, it is louder in the loft than on the lower level. Also the air-conditioning is limited. There are 2 units in the bedrooms and they have a limit on them. So you can not turn the air down to a comfortable temperature. The beds were not comfortable at all. I woke up sore every morning. The beds are some sort of memory foam, first time sleeping on that style of bed, i wouldn't recommend. They did have a good supply of beach stuff, boogie boards, umbrellas, and chairs, plus some snorkels. The pool is very small and usually full of children, understandably. I would not recommend staying at this place.

Unfortunately the apt we stayed in had a mold smell. The next morning they were going to move us to another unit but at 8am about 50 people showed for the public pickle ball courts which are located at the tip of this property between it and the beach. The noise was so loud at this complex and at pool that we did not stay another night. Pickle ball can be played 8am-7pm. Also, there is a $175 cleaning fee but my husbands feet were dirty after walking through the unit, I do not recommend this place
