Lou's Drive-In - Restaurant in North Highlands - 6229 Watt Ave, USA

Visited this place for the first time on the 23rd. I'd been hearing some good things about Lou's so I arrived with somewhat high expectations. The drive-in design used by the restaurant is a cool, super convenient way to enjoy your meal in the comfort of your own space while being steps away from the order window. I ordered a double cheeseburger and small fries with water. The burger was fantastic, with the flavor and quality delivered being on par with something you might expect and In-N-Out. The fries were crisp and well salted. The main drawback from this place in my opinion is the price. My order cost me about $16, and that was only for a double cheeseburger, fries and water. Can get the exact same thing at INO for half that price. They also charge a fee for paying with a debit card, which is pretty annoying. All in all, I like this spot. Don't expect a cheap bite though.

First time experience was awesome. Excellent burger, classic Roadside Diner, no available interior seating or bathroom, gets really busy especially Saturday noon, early afternoon. Plenty of parking. Really amazing burgers and fries. Highly recommended

Hurry up if you haven't tried LOU'S YET get in there now while you can the teriyaki burger 🍔 hands down one of the if not best burger 🍔 I have had that's even including my jalapenos sriracha Burger that I make myself. The lady that took our order took it with Aloha Mahalo for the great burger 🍔

Not the same place from my youth Only thing that’s the same is the name and location. The beef Pattie’s are your standard frozen beef no salt or pepper put on them very bland . So sad to see people coming up to the window saying they have been coming her for years and bringing their kids. $14 for a double and fries no drink. Nothing special anymore ( sad)

Having had the chance to eat here multiple times, I think it's time to give my honest opinion. First and foremost, the sides and shakes are delicious! The milkshakes are thick and Lou's has a wide variety of flavors that you can mix and match with. One of my personal favorites to mix is Nutella. Additionally, the onion rings and mozzarella cheese sticks are of a good portion, crunchy, and ooze with flavor. I can wholeheartedly endorse the sides and shakes for being affordable -and- delicious. The burgers I must admit fall a touch short of their sides; however, that is not to say that the burger is bad. The flavor is good and between the variety of options and the customization, they do make up some ground to match the sides and shakes. I would highly recommend coming here at least once to get a rich shake, some fries/onion rings, and a solid burger to match, especially because this establishment is a local business. One last tip is that sometimes due to the lunch rushes and the like, I would try and call ahead when possible to shorten the wait. Happy eating!

Cool throwback hamburger joint. Some of the best hamburgers, by far. The best milkshakes, on earth. The onion rings are devilishly awesome. I actually wish that more people could experience this place, but that's not to be.... they close on the 28th of October, 2023.
