Los Tarascos - Mexican restaurant in Kings Mountain - 706 York Rd, USA

Very nice people, we actually went there twice while in town to check out the casino. First night, we dined in, I had the ACP with steak... delicious! Well-seasoned, gooey with queso, over rice. Chicken wings, delicious! But now the not so good that kept this review from being a 5.... the 2nd night, we went for a drink, and ordered our food to go. I bypassed Taco Bells mexican pizza, in hopes of getting a more authentic one... big mistake! A tortilla was placed on top of the other tortilla with the toppings, not attached, so it kept coming off, eventually, I just removed it and ate the bottom one. If we had dined in, I would've sent it back. The chicken quesadilla looked like a large folded over chicken taco, not a flat, round filled quesadilla, like we're used to. Ending on a positive note, the frozen strawberry margarita and ocean blue was delicious and a nice size.

Nice layout (dining floor) warm atmosphere. Nice portions for price but average quality. Don't get me wrong, the food is good but it didn't stand out. Kinda' like canned ingredients, no imagination in recipes. Staff was attentive, but distant in personality. 7 out of 10

Thought I would try this place out tonight. It took forever to get anyone’s attention to seat me, when I did get it I was asked to wait. The host sat me gave me no menu, came back and expected me to order he was in a real hurry to count his tips, because that’s why it took so long to be seated. I explained to him that I had never been there and needed a minute and immediately got attitude because I had to ask for a menu. He was back in 2 minutes so I ordered the taco salad with beef and extra shredded cheese on the side as well as 2 chicken tacos. When he brought the salad out it had cheese dip on it. The menu does not say cheese dip on the salad. So I asked him to Altair it back, he said he would have to ask manager so I looked at menu again and it did not say cheese dip on the salad. I paid for my drink and I left. I didn’t feel comfortable even dining there. He already had an attitude because I was 1 person. But I am a very good tipper, I am a waitress and have been for years. Also he did not mention a salsa bar! I mean.. tonight I was one but next time I may have been many. Sorry about your lost business.

We drive roughly 15-20 minutes to eat here in person. We have been here several times in person, and also made to go orders. The food is great, the service lacks somewhat when they are busy (understandable.) However, do not order to go, or use the online ordering system. We have tried multiple times, and every time our order is incorrect. For a meal that is $50+ I expect it to be correct in person or to go.

Great Mexican food!! The staff was friendly and food was out quick. Plenty of parking and located on main street. Probably yhe best Mexican food in Kings Mountain!! Also they have a great salsa bar...try the pineapple salsa!

The service was not good at all. Felt like they took their time to seat us when it wasn’t busy at all there were only like two other families there , they kind of ignored us. The food was honestly bad. Too pricey for some bad food!

Added 10/29/23: Los Tarascos is a favorite for Sunday afternoons after Church. We probably eat here at least every couple of months. I discovered their Tarascos Burritoa few weeks ago, and would highly recommend. Have eaten here many times, and always enjoy it. Service is almost always fast and friendly, and the food is great.

We came in expecting to enjoy our time, some drinks, food and watch some football. We sat at the bar, asked the bartender about drink specials, his response "I don't know" He didn't bother to help by asking a co worker or manager about any type of drink specials. Ordered the cheese dip which was not hot at all. Shortly after he asked for our orders, my friend ordered himself and his son dinner, I politely asked for more time to place my order which seemed to really anger our bartender/server for some odd reason. From that point forward it got worse and worse. He never proceeded to ask me for my order again and never once checked on us to make sure we were doing ok. It completely ruined our experience. Ended up just having the cold cheese dip, salsa, and some drinks due to the terrible, unfriendly service. We felt more uncomfortable the longer we stayed. OVERHEARD OUR BARTENDER TERRIBLY INSULTING US TO HIS CO WORKERS IN SPANISH, NOT ONCE BUT MULTIPLE TIMES!!!! So I ask for the check and was told to pay up front. I ended up getting 1 beer, 1 small cheese dip, and 2 jack and cokes. The cashier rang up those few items and said the total was 42.68!!! I told the man helping the cashier I got wayyy overcharged. He asked what I ordered, I told him and he said one second and went to go talk to the bartender, comes back and hands me the underserving 5 dollar tip I just left despite of all the insults and terrible service and says" here you're good now." At that point it was just a relief to leave that nightmare of a restaurant experience!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO ANYONE WANTING TO HAVE A NICE ENJOYABLE DINNER!!!!
