Longwood Inn - Featured Reviews (228)
Clean, comfy, quiet, informal and homey accommodation in the heart of Coolidge Corner. Amenities are simple and basic, staff are friendly and helpful. Note that upper floors involve stairs, there is no elevator. Breakfast is not provided but there is a shared and fully equipped kitchen.
I requested a room that was easy to get into due to mobility issues. What I got was a small musty room on the second floor with a bathroom across the hall way. I had a medical procedure at Brigham and Women' that would make it impossible to walk up two flights of stairs when I was discharged. Very disappointed that there was no refund available even though I did not get what I asked for. The young lady at the desk was not very helpful nor friendly. I suggest you put your money into a decent place to stay even if it costs a little more. If I could give this place a zero rating, I would
No, it’s not an updated over priced modern situation. It has charm, it’s unique and we find it wonderful. We fell in love with Boston and the Longwood was definitely a big part of that! Memories are important and you can make them at this hidden gem.
The rooms were okee, but could have been cleaner. The maids were very friendly, but the front doordesk personnel was unfriendly and unhelpfull. Probably the worst service I've seen for a place this expensive ( In fact for most places Ive been staying)
Very clean, in a nice, fairly quiet neighborhood close to Coolidge Corner. Walking distance to Fenway Park too. The room was fairly basic, but the bed was very comfortable and we had a large bathroom. There is a really loud a/c unit, but nice to have it when it gets warm. The door to the room opened right next to the head of the bed, which was a bit odd, but was fine for the one night we stayed there.||No breakfast offered (large guest kitchen available) and no elevator. You may have to carry your luggage up a few staircases. Old-fashioned large key you have to carry around with you.||Overall, it is a clean and budget-friendly option in a nice area, so I would consider staying again.
I wouldn't recommend this B&B. I was mislead on the price for the rooms and was surprised I was charged again - for the second half of the payment. What I got? well I got a super small room, I never saw any service person or person at the desk, I got uncomfortable, lumpy bed, a loud stand-alone air conditioner, got exercise because I had to climb 3 flights of stairs to get to my room and to top it off, the room had a musky smell. All this can be yours for a $200+ a night! Save your money and go with an old-fashioned hotel where you at least get free breakfast and a way more comfortable bed. I do regret taking pictures so I can share the quality you are getting for such a price.
For my traveling style, the Inn was a great fit. The room was spotless, the beds comfortable. The office staff were friendly when I had a question.
The old architecture with William Morris-type wallpaper, original woodwork and fireplaces is quite charming. Having access to washer/dryers and the wonderful fully outfitted kitchen were big pluses for us. There’s complimentary morning coffee - just make yourself a pot.
Free parking, great location, easy after-hours checkin with a lockbox (call ahead for instructions.) WiFi was good.
There’s a playground just steps away, perfect if you’re traveling with children.
Some of the room furniture is a bit worn. I wish the lightbulbs were changed out to be “warmer” in tone; it would really elevate the feel of this grand old inn. The rooms are carpeted which can make them feel dated.
But overall I loved staying here and I look forward to coming back.
We enjoyed our recent stay here. It was great to have free parking and the staff were friendly. The room was clean and it was nice to have a kitchen to make drinks. My only problem was the size of the bed, we booked a double but it seemed a bit small for two. Other than that great valve for Boston.
The Samuel Sewall Inn is open! I found my way to rent a room for a month. It has only been one day and I am totally in love with the owners, the property manager, the room and the installations. It's sort of an old mansion with much personality and b
The Turkish dumplings were delicious! The dumplings alone taste great. The sauce and the oil give the dumplings a tangy taste which brings the entree together. The customer service was welcoming and friendly. Definitely recommend!
Service was excellent. Very sweet and helpful.
I ordered mysore masala dosa, pepper chicken and chicken 65biryani with chikoo (sapote) shake . All the dishes were flavorful, fresh and tasty. Their meat is halal too!
Portion size is good. Chikoo shake
