I simply don't understand the negative reviews this place gets, we've been going to the Lone Oak Lodge for years and have always had a great and pleasant stay. This motel has recently had a major renovation and all the rooms are new and refreshed. I must say we missed the older funky look a bit but cannot complain about the cleanliness and modern look. I wish they had left the murals in the King Hot Tub rooms but the new jacuzzis are good. Remember to start filling it up at least an hour before you use it though, it's huge and only has a normal bath faucet. The staff is super friendly, the cleaning staff is also super friendly, it's convenient, affordable, quiet ( the street is a long ways off people ), clean and easy to get to and from. I highly recommend it to anyone staying in Monterey.

One of my preferred value hotels when staying in Monterey. It is clean, quiet and comfortable. The price is very reasonable. Also seems to be recently renovated. The location is really good. I only have one issue, there are no black-out curtains (they use wood slatted blinds) and the light leakage from the bright parking lot lights at night is very annoying to my sleep. I wish they would address this issue in the future.

Nice cozy place nearby the beach. Many restaurant options nearby. Check in process with reservation was very smooth. Parked right in front of the room. Room looked clean and the bathroom was nice. Bed was comfortable with a TV to chill. It was good overall

Great place for an overnight visit to Monterey. Room was nice and had a mini fridge and microwave. We had a two bedroom room, but there was no door to the second room. The second room could have also used a side table for cell phones, etc. Also, the spa/jacuzzi building had a "permanently closed" sign. Overall, I would stay there again.

clean and well maintained rooms. The gear rinse station is super nice for divers, kayakers, or anyone else needing get the saltwater off their gear.|And they were able to accommodate me coming in a day early. |Housekeeping was done on an "as requested" basis.

Our overall stay was nice, the room was clean, the kitchen and bath counters looked new and the location was perfect and the diver rinse area was great. If I were to rate the hotel I would give it a 1.5 and an extra 0.5 for the rinse area making it a total of 2 stars. The reason is there were so many things either wrong or we did not have based on the website info that instead of getting upset we could only laugh at it. We were in room #46. At first glance, it was like a clean old house with old furniture. I had to fix 1 end table drawer, the drawer for the desk and stove because all were off their slider. Half of the drapes were unhooked and hanging down. Things I found later was that the fireplace only worked on one temp and the flame light didn't work. The fan had no way to turn it on. When I asked I was told it wasn't supposed to work because we had AC but room #1 that was remodeled had both and they both worked. The kitchen chairs were all rusted. Most of the cabinets would not close. Also, upon reading the website info, it said we should have a safe, flowers, and cable channels. We didn't have the first 2 and if we had cable channels we could find them. I do have pictures of everything and for the cost of our room, I think we were overcharged. One other problem is the firepit. There isn't a sign on it saying it was out of order. Our group had a gathering there and two of the guys had to go fill the propane tank and the pilot and control never worked properly. We were able to make it work but it should be repaired or replaced. To me, it appears there are new owners of the hotel and they have overlooked many things while trying to remodel it. We weren't the only people in our group that had issues and that's why it all became comical. The sad part is I was the one who told everyone to stay at the Lone Oak based on info I received from friends a couple of years back.

I came to Monterey on Saturday with my son’s high school sailing team for a regatta. We were a group of 3 adults & 10 teenagers and booked 5 rooms. The Lone Oak Lodge was perfect for our needs. The manager, Monty, was incredibly helpful and communicative. The rooms all looked like they had been recently renovated and were sparkly clean. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The weather was gorgeous so we all gathered in the BBQ/fire pit area of the lodge and ordered pizza and salads. We will definitely come back for future regattas.

This was an incredible experience. The Lodge is obviously an old property, but the owners have done a total remodel that was well thought out and made the room an ultra modern and very comfortable facility. The units are cottage appearing, although with common walls, and access to each room from the parking spaces is easy and very convenient.||Overall, the room was bright and welcoming, and the details were well thought out. All the electrical is updated, including USB ports on many of the outlets. The lighting is done so that the room can be completely lit, or lit on the bed half or the non-bed half.||The bathroom was very functional, with a very large sink cabinet that provides plenty of space on either side for personal hygiene items. The shower is large enough for two persons, with an efficient spray nozzle.||I had planned a single night's stay, but, based largely on my enjoyment of the room, I extended another day. I recommend the Lone Oak Lodge most highly.
