I wanted to love my stay. The thermostat appeared not to be working and it was uncomfortably hot. The bath tub was amazing, but the cleanliness was disappointing overall. I could tell it was once a very nice spot, but is just run-down now. Guests were in and out of their rooms all hours of the night, keeping me awake (I know that is no fault of yours, but the doors are loud).
The loft 523 is not really an airbnb per se. It's attached to the international hotel down the street. I called the host and she was nice but very short on the phone. When I arrived, the lobby was under renovation and covered with sheets. My room was on the third floor. It's very spacious. The design is like Japanese style with everything low to the floor. My issues with the room were that there was no microwave. Major inconvenience since if I needed to use one, I needed to walk to the main hotel. I was missing a curtain to block out the sun from the window facing my bed. There were a lot of spiders in my room. I didn't get my complimentary bottles of water. Then there was construction that started early in the morning on Friday with no notification. There was some construction to the building across the street as well, so you were able to hear everything. So that ruined my sleeping. Someone on the floor above me was extremely noisy. It was like they were putting on a talent show on. The lighting in the bathroom was weird, so it was really dim. The shower heads weren't adjustable, and there were two separate shower heads that pointed at your worst spots if you're short. Plus, the show isn't fully closed off. There's no door to keep you warm while showering. I had to connect the cable box to the TV. The best part of this location was there were a lot of food places in walking distance. You also are like three blocks from Canal St. You're able to walk to Bourbon St. as well. The location was very central to everything. I definitely wouldn't mind staying there again, but they need to bring food services and microwaves into this location. I didn't feel safe walking down the street alone as a woman to warm up some food if I got hungry. For the most part, I didn't feel in any danger while walking at night.
We loved the building and our room, great location near Canal Street, hotel is off the main paths which we liked. Check-in was not clear before we arrived, but was easy enough when we got there. Lovely, upgraded minimalist deco, bathroom is nice! For those looking for a restful sleep, may not be best option though. We didn't mind but others may. With the room being almost entirely cement, when party bus came down the street at 2am, it was LOUD!! But overall, it was okay. We will def be booking again!
This establishment is in dire need of attention and an update. "Chic and modern" 20 years ago, maybe, when bare and stark was supposedly edgy.
The A/C on the second floor is nonfunctional. The wall outlets are old and abused, thus loose. Make sure your charger is snug, else it will fall out and your phone will die.
Turn off the knob on the shower tightly, else it drips and wastes water, all day. Wear your heels if you need the makeup mirror; it's too high for most ladies. Don't have a large derrière; the toilets are tiny.
There is no front desk, here, despite being equipped with one. There is no bar, here, despite being equipped with one. There is a nice snooker table, but the cues are locked away. Since there's no staff, here, good luck using it.
There is no staff present, at all. Check-in is at different building a block away. We arrived early and staff held our luggage, but did not bring it to our rooms. We had to pick it up at the other location and walk it over, ourselves.
Housekeeping and maintenance needs more oversight. The floor was filthy. There were long hairs in the bathroom. The robe hook would not hold itself, much less a robe.
I cannot comprehend the good ratings and happy reviews. I stayed in 2B, but it was not to be. Maybe the penthouse suite is worth it.
I had a very bad experience with Loft 523. I highly recommend you do not stay here. Communication with the host is nonexistent 99.9% of the time; but if you do get a chance to speak with them they will be rude and condescending. Loft 523 messed up our dates. We booked through AirBNB for August 10-12, but the hotel had us for August 9-11. So, after repeated messages over multiple days, we finally managed to reach the hotel (International House) that runs Loft 523 to ask them to correct their mistake. Loft 523 said they couldn't modify the reservation because Hotel Tonight owns it? And we are subject to Hotel Tonight's policy, even though we booked through Airbnb and not Hotel Tonight? As an example of how inept Loft 523 is at this: they never responded to Airbnb when Airbnb tried to let the host know they were going to cancel the reservation and give us a full refund. If Loft 523 won't respond to Airbnb in order to prevent from losing out on the entire cost of the reservation, do you think they're going to respond to you if you have an issue? I recommend you avoid this place. Or, if you do book with them, don't try to communicate with them. If you're able to speak with them, they will treat you like an idiot even though they're the ones who made the mistake.
A bit hard to understand the bad reviews and I was a bit apprehensive to book but basically everywhere in New Orleans has horror reviews so...
Room was huge, price was reasonable, lobby not serviced for some reason but the sister hotel that manages check-in and checkout is just at the corner and you can use the limited facilities there. Yes, there is some minor wear and tear that could be replaced but far from tragic, and yes New Orleans hotels.seem to have the same standards as Los Angeles did in the 1980s but the only real complaint I have is the extremely low water pressure in the shower; a double shower for two is nice to look at but with a trickle from both heads I would focus the limited supply on one and wonder why having any water pressure is such a big deal here?
Other than that I would happily move in for a few months :) Great place to be, quiet and you can get anywhere with the trams or your feet to the Quarter
Great Location. Walking distance to Canal and just a few blocks from infamous Bourbon St. The city stays vibrant all night and there was lots to see and do or just a short cab ride away. Don't miss the 2nd Line on Sunday. It's a treat and sight to see if you have never been in attendance.
Upon arrival we noticed that one of the large windows in our room had a sheer curtain but no shade (it was leaning up against the wall). We notified the front desk that afternoon but noone came. The brightness of the room all night was like daylight. I photographed the situation with no flash and presented it to the front desk the next morning. The clerk said she would credit me 25%, however she charged me an additional 25% instead. I contacted her the next day which she said it would be corrected by the manager. I have emailed the manager twice and also asked to speak to him the day I called the hotel to correct the situation. I still have not heard from him, nor had the charge reversed on my credit card. I would never stay at this hotel again, nor recommend it.
We had such a wonderful time staying at The Inn. We were greeted by our wonderful host⦠I mean warden. Todd was great and walked us around the jail, showing us where everything was. He had great suggestions for where to eat and shop. The kitchen ha
The executive king room is amazing, like having our own apartment right in the heart of the French quarter. Very clean. Great hotel staff. Easy to walk everywhere. My only complaints would be the water pressure is non-existent, but I imagine with old
Cutest gem in New Orleans. Tarra's Body Pump class at Fit Therapy was truly exceptional. Her dedication to educating the class was evident, creating an atmosphere that left me amazed. She was remarkably attentive, making the overall experience both e
