This is a good place to start your kayak trip on the Cuyahoga River. I started at lock 29 and ended at Red Lock. I dropped my bike off here, drove my kayak to lock 29, kayaked back to Red Lock, rode my bike back to Lock 29, then drove back to Red Lock to get my kayak. The kayak trip took about 1.5 hours (the river was moving pretty quickly - 410 cfs at Jaite according to USGS), and then about 25 minutes on my bicycle. There were maybe 10 areas of small rapids along the way, including 2 bigger ones just north of the lock 29 put-in area. I was in a sit-in 8ft kayak and got pretty wet from waves. The put-in area at lock 29 now has a gravel path leading to it but still requires a little bit of balance on some rocks. It's very close to the parking lot.
One of the better spots to stretch your legs and get a stroll in on the historic towpath. Bike traffic was heavy on a Sunday afternoon in September but still an enjoyable walk.
Beautiful doesn't say enough about this place. Nice ramp to launch you paddle craft. Was just built. You can ride the train here. You can play in the white water here. There is just so much to do. There are hiking trails and bicycle trails, an old boat lock. Don't miss this place. I have fallen in love with it. In the Summer and on weekends parking will be a premium, you may have to park in one of many pay lots.
Cool walk. Just followed that today for a while. Very cool.
Great low key trail. Hike for 15 minutes or 3 hours. Up to you. Recommend bringing a bathing suit in warm weather as there are several swimming holes at the riverbank. Also nice history of the canal and locks. Parking can be challenged but there is an overflow lot down the block. Peninsula is a cute town.
The trail is pretty wet and muddy in some places but it was an easy hike over all. Walked into Peninsula and saw lock 29 and then went back to see the quarry. I would recommend wearing boots for a bit until the trails dry out unless you frequently run here then just wear tennis shoes.
Good place at CVNP. You get a nice and close view of the Cuyahoga river. Some people do fishing here as well. The parking lot is small though.
Historical area. This lock is one of many stops for the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. Great access to the tow path. South to Deep Lock Quarry, North to Station Road Bridge. Walking or biking, either way is nice. Great point to start kayaks. Clean restrooms, ample parking

Ledges trail is one of the most unique trails in Cuyahoga. The caves are beautiful and Iâd give you an eerie feeling when you hike through it. My kids loved climbing through the rock. It is not at all a boring trail. Very kid friendly. We loved the
Only took a short walk from the parking lot to the bridge at the marsh. Wish I had more time to walk further. There were plenty of other walkers, runners, and bikers on the trail. Very popular spot. I talked with a local man who mentioned that th
Beautiful rustic trails! Hike either the lake trails, or the ledge trails! Giant boulders to climb around and on, with unique foliage, and roots! Breathtaking either in the summer or fall!
Went on a hike today. Just over 2 miles of gorgeous trails! Wear good shoes. Highly recommend taking a walk here. Not for the elderly as there are many hills and lots of rocks/roots sticking out of the ground.
I have been going to Swensons for 40 years. Recently, the quality and quantity has been declining. My brother recommended Dillyâs as an alternative. I couldnât have been more impressed with the service, price and most importantly, the taste!
