Llano Grande Plantation B&B - Featured Reviews (5)
Llano Plantation is not your typical bed and breakfast. It is a unique way to take a trip back into history. We stayed at the Rose Wild home. The owner is extremely nice and knowledgeable. She has an amazing ability to go into precise details about things displayed in the house, and you would never realize how old she is! The furniture and artifacts all date back to the mid 1800's, as a result they are old and you feel like you are in a museum. Therefore, this is not a modern house with all the bells and whistles. But, it is a way for you to experience a history lesson and enjoy a beautiful natural setting in a pine forest. My husband and I really enjoyed walking around the property. It should be noted that it is definitely a non-traditional way to spend a day/night. It is off the beaten path in the countryside outside of Nacogdoches. My husband and I really enjoyed our experience here and would return again, if we were traveling in the area. I am glad we discovered Lllano Plantation.
For the past two years my husband and I have chosen to get out of San Antonio for the New Year and spend it in a historical location in Texas. This year we chose Rosewood B&B on the Llano Grande plantation. We were aware before we got there no television and were ready to reacquaint each other. If you enjoy living ina historical setting, complete with feather bed, antiques, fresh baked bread, in the middle of a pine woods forest, this place is for you! The fireplaces made it very cozy, and with each creak from the hardwood floors, the house told us of how much love and happiness has been in there. Our suggestions are to bring your own towels, and DVD. If you have a hot spot, as there's no Wi-Fi. We brought our laptops, and watch the news at night with our cell phone hotspot. They have a limited supply of movies, and lots of things to read. Bring your hiking shoes, or go into the quaint town of Nacogdoches
There are two properties involved with this Bed and Breakfast. ||This review will be of "Rose Wild". ||||The owner was VERY pleasant to communicate with in the reservation process. ||||This place is clearly a museum and should be made into a museum. ||One of those places you see as a child on a field trip and aren't allowed to touch anything and most rooms are off limits and secured with a rope! ||Except @ the Rose Wild, you can sleep in the house! ||This aspect is awesome. ||||However, the Bed and breakfast aspect is not so good. ||House is very dusty. ||Bathroom linens are very old and stained. In my opinion, they were rags. ||The bed linens smelled very old and musty. ||The mattresses are very old and lumpy. ||||Breakfast was left in the refrigerator for us to make: eggs, bacon, milk, OJ and bread. And coffee, with cream. ||||Frankly, even though I was with my husband, I was scared at night. ||The house is situated in the forest. ||The house creaked (naturally). ||I don't scare easily at all, but....I was scared. ||||Antiques are everywhere. ||||A lovely place to visit. ||The owner should charge "a donation" for people to come and look! ||||But, I can't recommend spending the night.
The owner is a very dear person whose historic knowledge of the area and interest in historic correctness is probably without equal. Of those historic homes available as a bed and breakfast, we stayed in the one called Rose Wild. The owner provides a tour of the home and the history of it upon check in. The owner's abilities as a tour guide are also probably without equal. If the remainder of the homes are on the same level as the one in which we stayed, they should be marketed as residential museums and not as bed and breakfasts.||||As a bed and breakfast, the interior was dusty and had far too many cob webs. The refrigerator had not been cleaned in a long time. The kitchen oven was not properly caliberated and burned the food. The chairs and sofas were uncomfortable period pieces. The bed was uncomfortable and linen was musty. The water had a bad taste.||The bathroom needed a very good cleaning.||||I would only tour this place and would never recommend it as a B& B.
Beautifully renovated historic hotel. Rooms have been upgraded with modern amenities. The rooms are small compared to new hotels/motels . The restaurants and bar are an attraction of their own with good food, drink and service. The pool area is refre
Came across a little gem of a BBQ spot in Nacogdochesâ¦Brendynâs BBQ. Walked up to the counter and the lady doing the meat cutting kindly gave me an overview of the menu. I already saw her make a couple of sandwiches and was impressed, she is a sk
Lots of green space to play in and a pretty nice playground that was updated a few years back. Much more to play on when we were coming over 5 years ago. Plenty of nice trails too. Also, it was nice to check out the Goodman Bridge they have placed h
Outstanding donuts, one of the best I've had in Texas. Light, flaky, wonderful flavor. Had cinnamon rolls, glazed twists, and cake donuts. Each was amazing. Staff was super nice. Got me a place for donuts in Nacadoches ð.
Love that the atmosphere is laid back and itâs not as crazy as Starbucks. (Which I always have the worst experience) The coffee is great here too! I like to drink my coffee and read a good book and study.. I have never had a bad experience and the
The coffee shop is shaped from a house, a very cool environment. There's plenty of comfortable seating, the baristas are quick and friendly, and the coffee is great.
We tried this on a Thursday "Steak Night". We didn't know you are supposed to call in advance but they were so nice and fixed my wife and I a great steak dinner anyway. We will be back.
