Love this location. The hike is short with a significant elevation gain, and the view is amazing. The one downside is that there is quite a bit of broken glass and graffiti at the top by the cross. My son loves this place and is intrigued by the possibility that this was a real lizard that was turned to stone. He writes a new legend or expands on it everytime we go.
Nice short hike/climb. Steep trail. Used main trail that goes in back. A shorter trail in front looked too steep. If you go to the top there is cliff edge. I like to be 6 feet away from edges. View is good from front of top, getting there puts you 3 feet from edge going around corner. 3 people could comfortably fit six feet from edge after going around corner.
Parking is to side of road with only one actual hard-to-share pull off area for less off-road vehicles.
We went for Easter Sunrise Service 2023. I don't think there's a bad "seat in the house," so to speak. It was absolutely beautiful, and I loved being a part of this experience. The amazing views make up for the so so service....definitely something you should do at least once.

This is a very cool and well known landmark located just across the Snake River from Marsing along highway 55.
They hold Easter services on the top and the views of the valley are amazing.
This extinct volcano has a very distinct feature that resembles a lizard when viewed from across the river.

This place is very fun, and the hike up to the cross is super awesome, and once you go up there, the view is amazing! I also may add that you should clime during the summer or springtime for fewer bugs.
It's a nice hike to get to the top, and you can't beat the view.
A beautiful viewpoint for the valley. Smaller and quieter compared to Table Rock. A nice solitary retreat with a short hike. Very relaxing.
This place has the best food. It is packed full of flavor and it won't disappoint. There are a TON of vegan options as well. The soups are all homemade. I had a delicious salad with an apple butter vinaigrette.
