Great size rooms, a bit over air conditioned. Quiet except for street traffic. Would be nice to have more of a traditional bnb experience, or kitchen access, but lovely to have the common spaces and yard.
What a charming and comfortable Bed & Breakfast right in the heart of Suffield, CT! The rooms are beautiful, offering a variety of style spanning over 200 years (very interesting architectural history!). The food was delicious and quite inspired. They also warmly accommodated my gluten intolerant wife without any grief or even hint of annoyance. In fact, the owners were kind, inviting and an absolute joy to spend time with. I highly recommend a stay at the Lily House, whether during the warm summer, or the pristine, snow covered winter (like we did, actually DURING a snow storm!). We had a wonderful stay and Lorraine, our host, was terrific! We will definitely be coming back. The beds are comfy, the house is beautiful, and the breakfast was superb. Book your room now because they fill up fast!
Service was exceptional even before we arrived! once we made reservations Lorraine contacted us and asked about what we liked to eat and if we had any food allergies. Something came up for Lorraine for the evening of our arrival. She contacted us and explained the situation and asked us what we wanted her to do. She could have just told us what she planned and had us work around it but she gave us an opportunity to let her know our thoughts. ||Once there, we were greeted as if we were long time friends, very warm and friendly. We stayed in the Rose Room which was beautiful and cozy. It was winter and one of the coldest weekends we have had,the room did get chilly but Lorraine showed us where all the thermostats were and told us to feel free to adjust as needed. There was also plenty of blankets. You have to expect to get chilly in a very old home in New England in winter!!||Breakfasts were wonderful, Lorraine did the cooking, there was so much food you didn't need to have lunch! Fresh fruit and yogurt, pastry, eggs, French toast, breakfast meats, coffee, tea and juice. Outstanding!
We stayed here for 3 nights and couldn't have asked for anything more. Lorraine and her husband were absolutely perfect hosts accommodating our every request and doing everything to make our stay wonderful. They were totally flexible with the breakfast time, made a delicious breakfast (completely accommodating to dietary needs/food likes & dislikes), gave great suggestions about things to do in the area, and had impeccable communication at all times during the booking process and during our stay. As for the place itself, it's located right off a fairly main road in town, so you could hear some traffic at night, but unless you're an extremely light sleeper, it won't impact your night's rest. In addition, even though it's not far from the airport, we never heard any planes, so they must not be near any flight paths. Rooms are cute, beds are super comfy, and everything on the property is clean and well maintained. Lots of on-site parking is also available, but even if their driveway happens to be filled, it's easy enough to park right across the street. Location is nice as well since you're within an easy drive to major cities like Hartford or Springfield. Mystic is also an easy day trip to make (about 1 hr. 15 mins south). Overall, a fantastic place!
My wife and I took a weekend trip to Connecticut and found Lily House. Lorraine and family were so welcoming and just wonderful. The house is beautiful, the rooms are very comfortable and breakfast was amazing. The location is perfect. Only a short drive from the highway, but far enough away that you feel like you are on a sleepy/cozy vacation in New England. I highly recommend this spot and know that we'll be back!
My husband and I stayed here on two different nights this week and we had a lovely stay on both evenings. The owner, Lorraine, was such a sweet woman and was extremely hospitable. We had good conversation with her and her breakfast was delicious! Her home fries were some of the best I have ever had! If you are ever in the area, I would definitely recommend booking a room here.
The cooking is homemade and incredible. Incredibly served in a gorgeous and beautifully furnished dinning room. Everything is very old fashioned looking and well decorated. Very 'homey'. The hosting is very well done and comfortable. They allow you to bring in alcohol you've purchased. The rooms are so very nice with large windows and there's even a suite. The outside is just as gorgeous with a wrap around porch with plenty of nice seating. Well gardened. Beautiful.
Surprisingly good for breakfast for a vegetarian customer. I got the cornbread waffle which was great if you like cornbread and waffles. Staff was nice. Price was okay.
I love pizza. A lot! I drive long distances to eat great pizza. I watch TV shows and YouTube videos about pizza. So please take it from me when I tell you the pizza here is great! Not good. The Napolitano crust is so legit. Crispy, chewy, tasty! Topp
