Ok,I've lived in Windsor for about 9 years now & I've never been to Lillys because we cook but sometimes you just don't want to- I wanted some baked chicken, rice and greens or string beans, & I just didn't feel like cooking this day- So I had to see what the hype was about with Lillys- Some say good, and some said don't go- well I went because I couldn't judge from listening to everyone else- Well I should have listened and spent that 60.00 in the grocery store- Sorry not sorry, unfortunately our experience was not good 1st time for me 2nd for my husband last he visit was four years ago and he said nothing changed We had baked chicken(dry tasteless) fried chicken(just okay, but too greasy tasting, Collard greens absolutely not they were sweet huh? why? String breans bland and very hard, Yams hard and too sweet, white rice very bland and hard, yellow rice almost made it but okay, Ribs they were just that with too much sauce we didn't ask for and too sweet, corn bread dry and stale,The chocolate cake had to be Sam's it was good but dry- Okay now the juice I had a regular size the strawberry pineapple tea I think they called it...OMG too sweet too sweet too sweet...and too much syrup I made 4 drinks out of that one when I diluted it with water it was still sweet. Thank you for your service, but next time, I won't be lazy and cook. I really thought I would enjoy this food - in the pictures, you can see when I diluted the juice, it was red then pink and I didn't taste no pineapple you can freeze it and make icee it'll taste better
Hands down the best soul food I've ever had! The portions are huge. The service is amazing! The staff is very kind. It was a wonderful dining experience.
It was my son’s birthday so we went to eat dinner there. I have never been to the restaurant per se but I’ve had their food many times and it was delicious. So on this Sunday evening we decided to go sit down and have dinner. First, I loved the atmosphere. Everyone there was very pleasant. Ms Sheila seated us (hey)! I informed the cashier that it was my son’s birthday in passing and that’s why we were there. That’s all I needed to say, 😊 she greeted him and asked him if he would like some ice cream and my son said yes, Lord have mercy, during dinner someone came to ask him what ice cream he liked and he told them. After dinner, they brought him the biggest strawberry shortcake ice cream, with whipped cream and cherries on top! That made my day. They took the time to cater to him, needless to say I helped him with the ice cream. I ordered with my eyes, so I had to take a lot of food home. My kids enjoyed the fried chicken more than anything else. We had a great time. Thank you. 😊
One of hubby’s friends introduced us to this place a few years ago and we’ve been hooked ever since! My favorite is the honey baked chicken, the fried chicken and the curry chicken. Hubby always gets the ribs and he says they never disappoint. The portions are huge and prices are great! I love that this place is consistent as that’s been hard to find lately. If you’re looking for great soulfood, Lilly’s is your place!
As someone who lived in the South for 8 yrs this is relatively close to Southern food in Hartford area. So Happy to finally make it here during their open hours. Food definitely transformed me back to my time in Atlanta and Alabama.
All the reviews on here almost made us not come. I will say that the way you present yourself to people will determine the way you’re treated in most situations so if you come in with a funky attitude like people are just here to serve you, maybe that’s why you got the negative experience with the service you had. Everyone here was attentive and polite. They smiled and joked and it was a great customer service experience overall. Make sure you bring cash for tips because they don’t have the option to tip with card. I had fried chicken, greens and cabbage. Everything was FIRE. My wife had wings, yams and Mac and cheese. I don’t even like mac but I had to have a few bites of hers because it was actually really good. Highly recommend anyone to come in with a good attitude and try the food for yourself. Just moved to the area and I’ll definitely be back.
I meet my sister for lunch. We decide on a halfway mark between Boston and New York. I stumbled across this gem on Google maps. I wasn't disappointed. The food is fantastic. The food was seasoned perfectly. The restaurant was super clean. The counter help was a little rough with no personality. The food and Sheila B the dining help was everything. The pork chops were so tender and seasoned with flavorful gravy. The mac and cheese was bomb 💣, the honey-glazed chicken was delicious. I order almost everything on the menu. The cakes were delicious also. I'll take the 2-hour drive again really soon.
I spent over $50 at Lilly's and it was not a good experience. A woman with box braids and braces poor customer service. She had a rude demeanor to her. I asked for hot Mac and cheese that came out because the cold one was sitting at the front. I was told no but again I'm spending more than $50. She then made a side remark to the another lady next to her thinking i wouldn't understand the comment she made in the secondary language she spoke. Time to check she seemed to be irritated. I asked if my cake was in the bag she walked a way and said nothing. Now let's talk about the food. I ordered two dinner platters. The ribs were good. The sides were nasty. Mac and cheese was soggy. Cabbage was Unseasoned. The collard greens was more like kale. Whatever meat they cook the greens in, don't use it. Very nasty. The greens was also soggy. Yams where okay. Cornbread should be consistentlly coming out since it comes with every meal. Cornbread wasnt good. Strawberry cake was fair. Overall it's a shame I won't be returning because of customer service and Quality of food. It might not matter that me or others might not return but looking at other reviews somethings should be changed.
DELICIOUS! Had a Reuben sandwich that was top notch even better than Kats in New York. The waitress who attended us made sure we were all taken care of and helped us pick an item since we were new in town. The hostess also let us take a glance at the
