Lighthouse Lodge & Cottages - Hotel in Pacific Grove - 1150 Lighthouse Ave, USA

The rooms are nothing like what is online. To be clear they are nothing like what is represented on line. The pictures look bright and clean and beautiful. The room we had was dark and it smelled old and mildewy. The carpet was old the lap shades had all kinds of stains on it. The walls! There were gouges scratches and all kinds of marks on the wall. I felt dirty just being in there. I didn't mind the view of the cemetery that was fine. But just the general filth was too much. The website also claimed a nice made to order breakfast but when I asked we were told it was breakfast in a bag with coffee and tea. There was no breakfast bar like the website showed. Honestly, we booked another room at Hotel Carmel and while it's costly for one night it's leaps and bounds better and worth the cost

You’re going to want to read this one… :)||I’ve stayed in good places and I’ve stayed in bad places. Heck, I’ve stayed in some terrible places. But I’ve never stayed anywhere that didn’t have any…..pillows…..!!?!?||We booked a room last minute for our family of four. One normal double bed, one sofa bed.||The hotel is quaint, the rooms are outdated but I don’t mind places that are tired when you’re just there to rest your head.||But… when we opened up the sofa bed we realized we didn’t have any pillows for it. No spares from the main bed, none in the closet, none to be found.||So, like most normal humans, we gave a friendly call to the front desk, where the response was a simple, curt and hilariously outlandish “we don’t have any pillows”.||And, to be honest, I didn’t quite know where to go from there. It’s not quite the answer I was expecting, but on further questioning the responses just got funnier. They were fully booked so no spares. And when I pointed out - gingerly - that a bed isn’t really very much of a bed without a pillow the person on the phone said… no word of a lie…||“I don’t use a pillow so I wouldn’t know” and “well the description of the room doesn’t say it comes with a pillow”.||Both of which were so ridiculous that I couldn’t even get angry, I was just astounded. ||It was too late on a Sunday to DoorDash pillows to ourselves, so instead we rolled up towels and a blanket and used them instead. And if that ain’t value for $350 a night, I don’t know what is :D||Yours, in awe…!

Hello management of lighthouse Lodge and cottages. My partner and I stayed at your hotel for our honeymoon we were supposed to be staying seven nights but we left after one night. The room was absolutely disgusting. There were blood stains on the wall, spiders on the wall, the floors were not even swept or mopped, there were fingerprints on the mirror, the drinking glasses that were provided were not even cleaned or sanitized. They still had smudges all over them and dirt. The curtain rod was broken, and falling out of the wall, the heater did not work. You guys have a radiator in the room. The sliding door and window and window were broken and would not lock as well. This room was absolutely disgusting and unacceptable and for that reason we are choosing to leave and go to a different hotel. We had to waste one whole day of our honeymoon to try and find a different hotel, which is ridiculous. We went to speak to the front desk Receptionist, and she was unaccommodating. (CJ). They wanted to charge us for two nights, even though we only spent one night there. This is absolutely not customer service.) This is unacceptable. Please Upon check-in, this is not what we were promised for our honeymoon. Get better housecleaning staff that know to clean a room properly and professionally. This is absolutely one of the worst stays I have ever experienced, and we will not be returning. (See attached photos for documentation)

We travel to Monterey area often and are always look for a dog friendly place to stay. Lighthouse Lodge popped up with a special Sunday and Monday night rate. Decided to give it a try. It was a fantastic stay. The room was clean, large and a little view of the ocean from our room. The property was kept up. Had a wonderfully warm pool and hot tube. The location is quiet and close to the water. We loved it. Our dogs really loved it.

Came Thursday aug 13 -17. Ok ur cottage jr big, clean good sleep . Busy all week first time staying in Pacific|Grove we always stayed downtownontery this will be our favorite. Victoria restaurant was our fav|Yummy food. Walking on coastal trail fun. Such a beautiful shoreline there was annual car show |In each area Carmel Pacific Grove pebble beach. A race Laguna seca. We didn't know but fun |Oh a drive for day to big sur

I definitely overpaid for this stay. We stayed for one night (2 adults and our 6 yr old). We stayed on the cottage side, the room itself was decent but the barn doors didn't work, only one window opened, the ceiling fan was weak and hardly circulated any air, and of course no AC since it's "near" the beach. The breakfast was fine, maybe needed more variety for the options. Since it's split into two properties (light house and cottages) the cottage side had no pool, you either had to walk in the cold to the pool and then back to your cottage room or do a short drive, not cool but just meant we didn't get to use the pool.

We've stayed at the Lighthouse Lodge many times. It has been completely remodeled. The rooms are very nice. The cottages offer breakfast, but the breakfast was not good. So if you stay, don't stay in the cottages for that reason. Go out to breakfast.

One of the worst lodging of experiences in my life. Three words describe my stay: Filthy, dirty, and disgusting. Me and my husband arrived for the second part of our honeymoon here and were pleasantly greeted by the front desk staff. However, the problems began after check-in. We were pleasantly upgraded to one of the biggest rooms on the property, which had its own kitchen and bedroom and dining area which made us both very happy. ||||However, once we got to the room, it all went downhill from there. When you took your socks and shoes off and walked across the floor, your feet on the bottom became almost instantly black by the dirt. It appeared as if the hotel staff had not mopped the floors in years. It got worse from there. Next, a bunch of dirt and cobwebs were over a lot of the furniture and on the floors in very visible locations. The next morning we woke up and found ants in our bathroom and also discovered that most of the windows and the sliding glass door locks did not work properly, which was a major safety concern to us. ||||On top of all of this it just kept getting worse. The hotel staff informed us that the heat for our unit was broken so they had a portable radiator plugged in and made our room like 80°. It was ridiculous. On top of all of this, we also noticed that the curtain rod was coming out of the wall in our bedroom, and the curtains did not operate properly. Many of the dishes and glassware in the kitchen were also dirty and filled with dust and soap scum. But the thing that was the worst of all was that we found blood on the wall in our bathroom upon check-in and also in the refrigerator in the kitchen. This is absolutely disgusting and I will never be returning to this place.||||When we checked out the next day and we asked for a refund the hotel staff were very rude to us and said that they could not refund us for the night we had stayed or the following night and we would be charged for nights of our stay even though we only stayed for one night. This is absolutely ridiculous. As a customer, I expect to come to a place specially for my honeymoon that is clean, safe, and sanitary. The fact that the staff were unprofessional and rude to me and did not want to try to work with me on refunding my money just further proves that this place does not know how to manage their staff or housekeepers. ||||I was told that I would need to speak to the owner in order to try to get a refund. I should never have to talk to the owner of a property if my stay was subpar, especially for my honeymoon. This should be a no-brainer for any hotel property. If your guest is unsatisfied with their stay and wants to leave the property, you should immediately issue them a full and complete refund for their stay.||||My husband and I are considering issuing complaints to the state of California and having this place put under a formal review. It is absolutely filthy and disgusting and the hotel staff do not know how to manage this hotel. Literally the worst experience of my life, especially on my honeymoon, which is supposed to be the best experience of my life.
