Beautiful spot to go hiking. Lots of trails through the forest and prairies. Cool nature center with lots of educational content for kids and adults. There is a neat one room school house you can explore as well.
Ok, this place is AWESOME. First of all, I've seen gorgeous family pictures taken here. Second, the nature center is a gold mine-- so fun for kids, full of information, and the staff is super awesome and knowledgeable. The creek is so fun for little ones to play and explore. This place is also available for weddings and birthday parties. Loved this forest preserve!
Beautiful and expansive forest preserve, with a river running through it, pond full of frogs and other critters, as well as cliffs that are relatively easy to climb up to.
Pretty preserve, nice trails. Great variety of mowed, dirt, gravel, and paved paths. Prarie house, school, and nature center are an added bonus. Good for people looking for short trails, biking, or looking for something fun to do with the kids.
Beautiful place for a walk/hike by yourself or with someone. Difficulty is super easy and well paved path. Also a great spot for kids. I took my 3 year old nephew and he loved seeing the barn and the ducks by the water!
Not enough parking on site for major events such as the Cross Country Sectional Championships. If you are going to host a major event, find a place with reasonable parking for the spectators. The grounds themselves were a mud bath, even though they "tried to preserve the course".
Great mixture of sunny and shaded trails. Plenty of picnic areas and not overcrowded. Could use trail markers for first timers, but great overall.
