This quaint coffee and book store on regent ales you feel like you are in another world or at least another city. Whether you are hanging solo, with a friend or on a date, there is something for everyone. The space is very small with some seating at the bar, some tables behind and a small seating area to the side of the bar closer to the bookstore. I would encourage getting there early to grab a seat. I got there around 4:30 on a Saturday and shortly after it started getting busy. I ordered a latte made from the unique and large espresso machine. There are so many options and the cocktails are wonderful as well.
Secret gem in Madison! Cocktails, coffee, books, treats…what could be better than that. Great selection of books and drinks. I love their iced matcha latte with oat milk. They also have a cool space in the basement called the book nook which is a private space you can reserve for any small event up to 12 people. Highly recommend for a small group of friends. It’s perfect for book groups. Reservations are free with a minimum tab for $50 an hour which is easy to hit with a couple people.
This place was a fun stop in Madison! Server was amazing and staff was very helpful in finding books. The book are organized by region that the author is from or by where the book takes place which is fun and funky. Coffee was fantastic. Nice location and quirky atmosphere for booknerds. Will definitely come back!
I really enjoyed the aesthetics of this bookstore and cafe. The drinks were great, and the menu was creative with coffee and cocktails. The book selection was wide ranging and I like how they sorted the books out by regions.
Wonderful little cafe in an unexpected location. Service could be more attentive. Whoever conceived and opened this place has hit on something that is new to Madison but not to Paris. It's a cozy little cafe with a respectable menu of cocktails, wine, and espresso. Plus a little book shop to boot. It's a bit of a scene in the evening, but not too precious. Our service at the bar did not get our 2-drink espresso order straight, and made a NOLA iced coffee without cream or simple syrup.
What a cool vibe it has! Love the vintage lighting and back bar! Very good coffees with a cute little Cafe area! The book area has all sorts of wines to purchase along with a variety of interesting books of various topics!
Not all cafés can boast the late hours that Leopold’s do. It’s the perfect cafe/bar/library to get reading a new book, or discuss books with your friends. The drinks are some of the most creative (and delicious) in the city, and book selection itself is pretty cute. I’d only complain that the space is too popular for the limited seating section. Get here early if you want to stay for awhile
I really wanted to give this place five stars but I went in for a hot chocolate and paid five dollars for brown colored water. I just didn’t feel like bringing it back to the counter and complaining but it really was the worst hot chocolate I’ve ever had. This probably won’t matter to very many people but I am not a coffee drinker so it mattered to me. All was not lost however, I discovered and purchased an excellent “staff pick” book and I loved the NYT best seller shelf, the warm lighting, atmosphere and comfy couch.
