I highly recommend Lavelle’s, particularly if you’re staying at the Marriott Spring Hill. The service was great, with our server being very friendly. Even though it was quite busy when we visited, the salad and prime rib were served promptly. I have absolutely no complaints; my experience was thoroughly enjoyable. I look forward to returning to Lavelle’s if I ever visit Fairbanks again.
Good spot in Fairbanks. It was the only modern/not rugged place we ate while in town. The food was quite good. The bourbon shrimp were delicious. The Caesar salad also good. I had the salmon (Cooper river). It was really good. I would have preferred less salt in the sauce and the salmon less cooked…..more on the rare side, but it was still very good. My friends had the halibut and the beef tips and they both enjoyed them. Service was good too.
Great place to eat. Very modern atmosphere and excellent service. The shrimp cocktail was excellent. Fresh and large shrimp and just a bit spicy for the cocktail portion. The rack of lamb hit the spot and the kiwi sauce gave a good sweetness to all of the savory in the main dish. Overall a great place I would return to.
If you're looking for an upscale place, this is it! Most food selection has been delicious, but sometimes the portion sizes leave me wanting more for the price I paid. The place has three types of seating 1) Bar-side 2) high top and 3) table top. The barside is fairly small, maybe fits about 6-8 comfortably, bartenders are friendly. The High top tables are for more informal social outings with family and friends for a quick app and drink while the table top is your typical date night feel. If you're sat on the backside of the wall on 2nd street, you are isolated from the upscale ambiance so I don't always like sitting on that side if a choice is given. I recommend making reservations. The rate drinks and food come out is decent. I've always had great service, no complaints on that end. I love that you have a view of the kitchen, I think it elevates the experience. The menu has a good mix from pub fare to high class, but the menu isnt large which as someone who is indecisive, can appreciate. Parking is horrendous, but thats downtown for you. Park either on first or 2nd, but expect to be looking for parking if you go on a friday/sat evening outing. This is more of an issue during winter when its cold out and walking a couple blocks isnt fun. Treat yourself to a 3 course meal, especially if you are a local.
I got there with my two friends and had no reservation. They put us in a table within seconds. Even though it was a Friday evening, they were not busy yet and very welcoming. I ordered the Black Walnut Old Fashioned, I think it was the best Old fashioned I had in Alaska so far. For my entreè I ordered the Lollipop Porkchop and it was amazing, along with some Napa Cellars Merlot they combined perfectly. At the end I had a Vanilla Bean Crème brûlée, and it closed out the deal perfect! My ticket came out to be fairly cheap compared with the excellence in food and staff service. Definitely highly recommended!
It was an amazing dinner, out of our short vacation, we went there three times… The food is delicious, the cocktails as well, and the waiters provided an excellent!!! Definitely one of the best places in town!
Whenever I visit Fairbanks, this is my favorite place to go for the amazing food and drinks! Service is always top-notch! I recommend friends and coworkers that Lavelles Bistro will not leave you disappointed!
My wife and I went to Lavelle's while on a work trip. I will say that the food was the best that we've had in Fairbanks; but by far the worst service at a restaurant we've ever had. This was very disappointing considering the cost of the meal and the fact that the restaurant was not busy at all. To start, we waited over 15 minutes for our server to greet us after being seated. Then after taking our drink orders, it was another 20 minutes before getting our drinks and bread, during this time no one came to the table at all. When we finally got our food, it was actually good; but should be considering it was $45/plate. When we were finished, we order our dessert to go. We ordered the Crème Brule, which I'll admit was probably a bit difficult to get into a to-go container, but it definitely should not have looked like a 5th grader packaged it for us. We watched her throw it into the container and fling it off the spoon. All this to say, that while the food was good, the restaurant needs to do a better job of training the staff considering this is a higher end restaurant by Alaska standards.
This place had a nice menu and the food was great. I had the French dip , my wife had a burger which was amazing and then we had the southwest eggs rolls. We set at the bar because this place was full and when we left there was a line waiting to get
Great place to have a casual meal, atmosphere was laid back and the menu had a wide variety of options. Servers checked on the table often. The BLT was off the chain, loved it.
What a great place to sit and enjoy a meal! The food is good and the staff is super friendly. The atmosphere is great, especially if you want to get out of -20° freezing weather. If you are a sports person, plenty of TVs to walk the game!
Dropped in for a Saturday Class. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The gym was huge, clean and warm! The workout was sweaty, loved it! Highly recommend if you are visiting, super easy drop in process.
