Lapland Lake Nordic Vacation Center - Ski resort in Northville - 139 Lapland Lake Rd, USA

Went for Cross-country skiing for our first time. We took a a lesson first and the Instructor gave us the skills we needed to hit the trails on our own and successfully traverse the gorgeous well groomed trails to the lake and through the beautiful pine filled forest. The staff was very knowledgeable, kind, and all around wonderful. Had some delicious hot chocolate from the snack bar/restaurant upstairs and sat by a fire pit outside. We had the best day. Cannot wait to go again.

The 'tupa' (Finnish for Cabin) was spotless, the fire-stove stocked and ready to light and the kitchen was fully stocked. The owners and staff greeted me warmly during the simple check-in, and one staff member started the fire-stove for me.||The cross-country ski trails were groomed and in fine shape given the current conditions. I enjoyed the 12km of snowshoe trails that are well marked and provide a great workout.||I had ordered a dinner which I enjoyed. I also made use of the very hot sauna in the main lodge.||I have been coming to Lapland for almost 20 years, with family and friends and it has always been great. A very special and enjoyable vacation spot in any season.

Had 2 kid XC ski lessons, both excellent teachers, (and have had lessons there before, also great). Staff seems to be happy, as we’ve seen familiar faces over many years of going there. Equipment is up to date if renting (although not cheap). In these days of global warming be aware that this little alpine paradise seems to have its own polar vortex, providing snow when areas even 15 minutes away have none. Check out the daily update on their website to be sure before you go, especially in the shoulder seasons.

Great trail system, beautiful wooded environment, well groomed, and very enjoyable, even under sub-par weather/snow conditions we got this weekend. The staff at the lodge are very friendly and helpful, too. I wish we lived closer! :) (I'm not reviewing the rooms, since we just skied on the trails, and didn't stay in the tupas.)

Our family loved our recent experience (2nd time in 5 years) at the Lapland Lake Nordic Center. Clearly the major highlight is the easy access to the beautiful, serene and quiet lake. There are lots of kayaks and canoes to choose from and on a few occasions, we had the entire lake to ourselves! I also love the simplicity of the cottages...nothing too fancy which keeps them affordable and down-to-earth. Beds are comfortable and the kitchen has what you need to make all of your meals. Very friendly hosts too.

I spent four nights in Fox Den, one of two studio cottage spaces on the property, nested into a gentle hill planted with graceful apple trees. I loved the fact that when I returned from strenuous hikes on the Snowshoe Trails, the space was cool. The bed is comfortably firm, with strategically located reading lamps. In fact, it is impressive how many high hats are dispersed throughout the entire apartment. Steps away from the foot of the bed is an inviting overstuffed love seat and pillows, facing a heater. The kitchen supplied all that I needed to prepare simple meals. Along with the bathroom (which can be closed off), a compact and very usable space. ||The back door gives onto a seating area with a fire ring and grill, overlooking a small pond. The front entrance is a bit more challenging because of the steep stairs leading down into the space. I ended up using the back door to come and go. For someone who is drawn to the outdoors during the day, followed by a quiet evening spent reading and listening to music, this simple layout is ideal. Whether by phone or in person, the hosts are invariably welcoming and informative. Everything, from signage to toilets to appliances is functional and well maintained. Even the firewood provided is of good quality. ||One caveat: it is possible to be disturbed by anyone moving around in the upstairs apartment. It didn't bother me.

Lapland lake has become our regular place to go when we need quiet time. The lake is wonderful. The walks are good enough. The cabins suit us. We were in the fox den this time, which was fine. |We love everything. We don’t use the bikes. We do use the canoes and kayaks.|

What a GREAT weekend adventure! Summer fat-tire biking on the winter XC trails is amazing. Only 5 months ago...full snow, now fabulous grassy trails. And the lake (and kayaking) is so peaceful and beautiful. Thank you.
