Great place for the pup to get out and explore. Quiet. Been there 3 times and each time not crowded at all. But they have been in off hours.... but is a beautiful place, benches, kids playground, basketball court, volleyball net and a lot of room to roam.
Lakewood Park has playground equipment, restroom facilities, benches, a grill, and a picnic table or two, all set near a stream-fed, algae-covered, rather disgusting manmade pond. I’d give it three stars as a playground for kids. The real treasures are the creek that runs through it and the forested hill behind it. Safer for adults than for small children, the creek and forest offer cool, quiet hideaways from the summer heat and are great for an in-town mini-hike or(relatively) quiet break.
Some of Roanokes oldest most magnificent trees are here on the hillside of this park. I've been trying to save them from English Ivy since nobody else cares about them
It's a great park! A little playground for small kids, huge field for the bigger kids play sports, a pond for little kids to explore with supervision, a fenced off drainage canal, a separate area to keep your more rough game away smaller kids or your dog from people wanting to pet and touch. It's not fully enclosed, so it's not secure. Do not turn your dog fully loose. But it's a nice place to work my dog while on a 75ft training lead. Like a lot of spots in this quaint city, the little pond leads to a lot of wildlife. So keep an eye out.
My children love to come here. Nice play area. Picnic tables and grill. Its relatively quiet and easily accessible. Nice place!
A really nice park! However my kids are 4 and 2 and the playground seemed to be made for bigger kids which was a bummer. Ladders and slides were all very, very steep and scared my kids. The park itself is beautiful
It's clean and convenient. We play basketball, frisbee, and walk our dogs here regularly. I love that there are poop bag dispensers because occasionally I'll forget to bring my own and I don't leave my dogs' messes around. Also, nice little playground.
First time visiting the park and kind of disappointed. The equipment is geared more for older children. There is one slide I feel comfortable letting my toddlers go down and they have both almost faceplanted over the side. There is no toddler play equipment at all and only 1 infant swing. There is parking but it is only street parking and the roadway is very busy. There is a lot of ground here so plenty of space for my kids to run around. There is also a very pretty serene pond. Overall I feel this location is better suited for older children and I do not recommend bring younger children
Got up early for a sunrise hike only to realize the view looks west. ð Still totally worth it even though it was windy and cold. Great for hiking, running, climb and chill, or explore the various loops
Beautiful spot. The azaleas were at their peak. A trail map would be nice as there seem to be several choices with some of them dead-ending. There were some large trees down across the path... one that had to be crawled over and another required a
I like using the exercise stations here, I like the art installations, the tree lined path, especially during hot weather months. I love that it's alongside the river and Black Dog Salvage. It's a small park so parking is limited.
One of the nicest parks in Roanoke, in my opinion. Itâs not very big but itâs a pretty decent size! I sometimes pick up my friendâs children from Woodrow Wilson Middle. Iâll take the children here until their parents get home. The basketball
My kid loves this park. It usually has a decent amount of other kids there as well. The canal is a fun touch with little docks and a little trail in the woods so it's fun for parents too lol. Cameras is a nice safety touch they added.
Lovely nice people, a fine selection of stuff to choose from. A nice little hang-out spot. The park is lovely and not far from the library where you can play sports.
Looking for top-notch martial arts training? Look no further than Lindamood's in Roanoke. Both my sons trained, for many years, with Bobby and Michelle, through Snyder's. You simply cannot find a more professional group of martial artists... They NEV
