Lakes Course And Old Course - Public golf course in Garland - 600 W Campbell Rd, USA

Played the old course. Given its a links style...the closeness of fairways can be distracing. I like it overall. It would be nice if they brought in a more robust grill offering to take advantage of a good meal to pair with the great views.

Have played here 6+ times in the past year. Greens 9/22 in good shape, very few weeds, cut was good midday. Bare spots in rough, but fairways good. Course layout has a few narrow fairways that require good shot placement, a few wide forgiving fairways. Nothing tricky about the greens like tiers or hard collection areas. Great for an average golfer.

Lakes Course - great conditions, challenging layout... I really like it

Played the old course at Firewheel and enjoyed it. It's a good layout, and longer hitters may find the course a bit short from the blue tees but there are still several holes that will challenge your length. The course is still recovering and while some other courses have really bloomed with full grass, the old course still has some dead spots on the tee boxes, fairways, and greens which I would have expected to fill in by now. But by and large the greens rolled well, and were some of the most slopey greens I've seen on a public course in a while. They were pretty transparent on break and I wasn't upset with the speed. The course does drain quite well, we played after they experienced overnight rain and the course was dry by noon. There is a decent amount of water on the course, though I heard the lakes course has even more and has come back to life a bit better. But this course was fair, layout was interesting and didn't have any gimmicky holes, and as long as you can keep it in play off the tee you can score well. Giving it 4 stars only due to the condition and dead spots, and the range was pretty chewed up and it was challenging to find a larger patch of grass to hit off of. Price was fair to walk.

Nice courses and cheap and not as crowded as the bridges. During the summer you can tee off at 5 PM and still manage 18 holes. Golf etiquette with beginners can be a problem but the staff are great.

The Lakes Course is a beautiful and fun course for any skill level... Given the hot and dry summer of 2022, the course is in excellent condition... The greens are the best I have played in the Dallas area this summer and the fairways are fast and firm with water in play on many holes.... Overall, it is one of my favorite North Dallas County courses and I highly recommend it for seniors, with a set of tees, between the whites and reds...

The lakes is a very challenging golf course with water on every hole, fun experience, the greens are in perfect condition, and the pace of play was about 3 hour and 45 minutes for our 4-some. Will be back to play a second time.

Played the old course fairways were in decent shape tough short course but my main praise was the greens best greens I've played on in many years perfectly true and fast few spots on edges lil rough but was very pleased with overall course
