Laguna Brisas Hotel - Hotel in Laguna Beach - 1600 S Coast Hwy, USA

These are the pros/cons on which the review is based. Pros: Location - Small beach access right across the street from the hotel. There are some restaurants within walking distance, but it's not recommended in a pandemic with lots of maskless people walking around. Beach Gear - Chairs, umbrellas and towels can be checked out if available. (They ran out on Sunday on Labor Day weekend, the hottest weekend on record in SoCal). Breakfast - Cold cereal, milk, yogurt, and granola bars are available in the lobby on a to-go basis. Choose what you want and brown bag it. Parking - Hotel has its own parking structure which is a prized commodity in Laguna, especially on a holiday weekend. There's no separate charge for parking, but likely included in the other hotel fees. Rooms - Decent size, newly renovated, walk-in shower. AC - Each room has its own window unit which is perfect for a pandemic situation. The a/c is set to 70 by default and can only be adjusted with a/c remote. No housekeeping - It's easy to avoid people follow the rules. The lack of housekeeping is essential to reduce the chance of infections. Staff- All members were friendly. Cons: The minimalist decor - The white walls without any pictures make it look stark and uninviting, especially upon checking in. Lighting - There's only one lamp on the night stands & bright lights for the other side that's lampless. -Electricity outlets - There's one outlet/plug for appliances (blow dryer, not provided in the room). Chair - There's a desk in the room with one desk chair which makes it inconvenient to eat in the room, especially during a pandemic and on busy weekends when trying to avoid crowds. Room set up - The bed faces the west but the TV is placed on the north wall which means that TV watching must be done at an angle from the bed or while sitting on the desk chair, the only chair in the room. It's not convenient for a party of 2. In-room coffee -- While there's a Keurig coffee maker, we had one decaf and one regular coffee on the tray. To limit contact with people by asking for additional regular coffee, we made do with what we had on 1 of our 2 nights there. Pool -- The pool is small (capacity of 18 per sign which seems like a stretch) and only open until 5 p.m. That would probably be ideal when it's not 98 degrees on the beach! (Yes, on this weekend it got that hot as it was 110+ inland). The hotel is a good place that provides the basics at a decent price, but some of the details that were overlooked make it inconvenient, especially in this new COVID world.

Beautiful view clean and easy going wonderful times we had.

Good hotel, undergoing lots of renovations. We got an internal 2 queen room on the third floor. The elevators are pretty old and I saw a hotel worker prying it open with his hands one time. Our room had a funky smell to it and although the bathrooms are nice, the internal ones definitely need updating (which is happening). If it wasn't for the smell and had we paid for the nicer rooms I think it would have been a different experience. It is much closer to the beach than other hotels and overall it was a good time.

It was very nice and quiet here. Got a room for 2 with a queen sized bed. The room itself was a bit small but not too small to feel claustrophobic. The bed was nice and soft, clean. When we checked into the room the previous guest had just checked out and they sent housekeeping to have the room cleaned for us. The bathroom was reallyyyyy nice too! All stocked with clean towels and new soaps. The bathtub spa was very fun/comfortable too with jets. It was like a hot tub. The people at the front desk were nice too.

Everything was absolutely amazing from check in to rooms to the breakfast! It is literally 99 steps from the beach and the hotel provides you with beach chairs as well as towels. The parking is free on site and the garage is covered. The front desk people were very warm, courteous and efficient! The room was very clean and spacious and the bathroom had a jacuzzi as well! Breakfast was very good with tons of hot and cold options including hot waffles. Definitely recommended!

Room was clean but outdated. Wallpaper peeling off walls and stains on it. Road noise was extremely loud. From 6 am tell about midnight. Someone had pooped in the pool. Largest poop I've ever seen. Multiple times. So much feces we were shocked. Notified front desk and several hours later it was still there and no sign on pool saying it was closed. Breakfast buffet was really nice. A lot if variety and gluten free options and variety of milk options which I thought was nice were available. Besides being outdated and the pool situation we had a good time. We would stay again.

Overall all the location was good and staff was friendly. We were in a newly renovated room that was spacious and nice, however the room had sensor light switches that would not turn off. After clicking it to turn off they would turn back on after 20-30 seconds. We called the front desk which was helpful and the worker came up to the room and after awhile used tape and paper to cover the sensors. The lights still would turn on with movement however even the ones in the bathroom due to the mirror and open design of the room. There were no other rooms available so we were instructed to follow up in the morning. The front desk staff was helpful but the general manager denied a refund and was unwilling to help after Expedia tried seeking approval of a refund or discount. The general manager told Expedia that we didn't address the issue with the front desk, when we actually did (called the front desk and they came up to the room, and talked to front desk again in the morning). For the price, I don't think it was worth the stay for the hotel itself and the amenities/service...but it is across the street from a beautiful beach so location counts I guess.

I posted a review about this AMAZING hotel two years ago and I have a recent update with photos! Laguna Brisas Hotel has been my go to hotel when it comes to having a getaway at Laguna Beach. The staff here are incredibly friendly and they give you feedback of what places to visit while you're in the area. The hotel rooms are gorgeous!! They're clean, organized, spacious, and comfortable for the PERFECT stay near the beach. The room that we recently stayed in had a private balcony all to ourselves. I love how this hotel has their own parking garage to keep your vehicles safe. One of my favorite top reasons for coming to Laguna Brisas is just how close it is to the beach. The walking distance is only 5 minutes!! Literally across the street!! Thank You for everything that you continue to do Laguna Brisas!! I'll be coming back for many years to come!!
