Loved this place! First, amazing staff! One worker in particular was very personable and would keep up with our daily adventures and give us recommendations of other places to go/sights to see. Very welcoming environment. Our site was set a convenient walk from the rustic bathrooms and dish sink. Showers were spacious and cost $1.00 for 5 minutes (additional time can be added). I would recommend only starting with $1 to make sure the water is hot. One time I put in a lot of quarters only to realize the water was cold. Other than that, I didn’t have any bad experiences with the showers. Very great location to hikes. Also no signal out there at all, which was a plus for me!
5/5 I've only done a bit of camping in my life, but this was my favorite location so far. The individual camp sites feel relatively secluded from the others and definitely have a mix of natural and manmade vibes. It is also a perfect campground if you plan to hike the ridge. Not to mention the fact that you can drive around the campsite and to trailheads. Would definitely recommend!
L’endroit est vraiment magnifique mais il y’a une autoroute juste à côté ce qui fait on entend tous les camions qui roule vers 2h du matin
I really wanted to go camping here. After reading the rules I found that I couldn't take my dog camping. How absurd. If a dog is a nuisance then it is due to a lousy owner. If the owner cannot maintain control then they can be asked to leave. This is not a hotel. It is outside. How ridiculous.
Great place! This is a good campground for people who want to hike in the Notch. It is very simple. Our site was small with only one place we could setup our tent, but we liked it - we had a picnic table and a fire pit with a grill top. The bathrooms were okay, and the showers were good (coin operated, but hot and roomy). The camp store had everything you would need, and everyone working there was very friendly. There's a big playground for the kids and they had evening story time led by a park ranger.
Nice campground. Clean bathrooms, dish sinks at each bathhouse, and coin-operated showers with good water pressure. Staff at check-in/camp store were very friendly! Access to multiple hikes and the bike path from the campground. Good location near the middle of Franconia Notch State Park and the park is beautiful! Not too crowded on weekdays in early/mid-September.
I didn't actually stay in the campground. Rather, I used the trailhead which is accessible by tunnel that goes under the highway. I did stop at the camp store to buy a couple of items and found their service to be very good. Also, I took a stroll through the campground and am so impressed that I vowed to come back and camp here. If you stay here the Falling Waters Trail is beautiful but also very challenging. Please don't try this trail without the essential equipment. You need to bring a flashlight, snacks, whistle and a first aid kit. This trail is well worth the hike but can, like any other hiking trail, be very dangerous.
The campground at First site looks amazing ,staff is friendly, sites are spacious , restrooms vary From dirty to reasonably clean. So far so good. The biggest problem starts When you to get some sleep at Night. No way this is possible. Campground is right next to Interstate 93 and that is what you hear 24/7 , and thus all Night long . Heavy Traffic continues to keep you wide awake despite serious earplugs that we used. If you Don’t mind this noise , this is The spot to be . If you prefer a good night’s rest After an exhausting hike , please avoid this campground, There are plenty of more secluded ones nearby.
